September is National Preparedness Month
September is National Preparedness Month for your nation. During the month of September each family is encouraged to review and update their emergency plans.
In Bates County some of the natural disasters that the family should be concerned with are tornadoes, severe storms and floods. We have been experiencing extreme heat and drought. What will the family do different for the next heat and drought experience? Winter will be here soon. If you have a generator is it tuned up ready to go? Do you know the risks of using it?
Some of the other risks we should be concerned with are food safety, fires, carbon monoxide poisoning, pandemic influenza, and West Nile Virus. Understanding the risks and knowing what to do in each situation will protect yourself and family.
