Important changes coming regarding children's vaccinations

CHANGES THAT COULD AFFECT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

Effective OCTOBER 1, 2012 the Vaccine for Children Program (VFC Program) through the Center for Disease Control has made changes in its’ policy as to who can receive immunizations through the VFC program. The CDC states that the Bates County Health Center will NO longer receive funding to provide immunizations through the VFC Program to anyone who is considered “fully insured” by health insurance.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

It means, anyone with health insurance that covers the cost of vaccine, even if the insurance includes a high deductible or co-pay, or if a claim for the cost of the vaccine and its administrations would be denied for payment by the insurance carrier because the plan’s deductible has not been met, is unable to obtain immunizations through the Bates County Health Center. MEDICAID (children 18 and under), uninsured, American Indian or Alaskan Native may continue to receive immunizations through the Bates County Health Center.

The FAMILY CARE CLINICS of BATES COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL are pleased to announce they will be offering immunizations to anyone who is unable to obtain their immunizations through the Bates County Health Center.
