Serious injuries in state line crash

At approximately 3:30am Saturday morning, Teri Bland 36 of La Cygne KS failed to negotiate a curve on Route J, 200 yards east of the Kansas State Line. Her 2005 Kia travelled off the left side of the roadway and struck several trees. Ms Bland sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Miami County Medical Center in Paola by the Lynn County EMS. The investigation is continuing with possible charges pending.

One car accident Friday night

Derek Dunn, 17 of Butler, was westbound on NW 3502 east of Highway 52 West in a 1999 Chrysler Concord, when he swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway. Dunn’s vehicle travelled off the right side of the roadway and then struck a fence. Dunn sustained minor injuries and was taken to Research Medical Center by Bates County EMS.

McCaskill and Koster to be in Butler this week

Sen. Claire McCaskill will be in Butler Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Bates
County Democratic Headquarters arriving at approx. 12:45 pm.

Attorney General Chris Koster will be in Butler Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the
Bates County Democratic Headquarters from 1:30-2:30.

Obituary - Eddie Herrman

Edward "Eddie" Carlisle Herrman, age 77 of Springfield, MO formerly of Butler died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield. Eddie's wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 23 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel with inurnment at the Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm Tuesday immediately prior to services at the chapel. Eddie is survived by his wife Shirley Herrman of the home; son Brett Herrman and wife Brenda of Springfield; sister Helen Maxine Odneal of Raytown; two grandchildren Cary Bret Herrman and Marina Paige Herrman

Semi hits restaurant in Nevada, one person reported killed

An unofficial report states that one person was killed and ten others injured after a tractor-trailer lost control and rammed into a restaurant in Nevada, Mo.

The accident happened at approximately 6:30 pm this evening. More details to be reported as they are released to the media.
