Hume News:

      Paxton Wooldridge would like to announce the birth of his little brother, Easton Allen born on March 7 at Nevada Regional Medical Center.  Little Easton weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 20 ½ inches long.  His proud parents are Ryan and Cathie Wooldridge of Nevada, MO. 

      Maternal grandparents are Everett and Karen Irwin of Hume, MO.  Paternal grandparents are Dale Wooldridge and the late Connie Wooldridge of Nevada, MO.  Maternal great-grandmothers are Wilma Sullivan and Esther Irwin of Hume, MO.  Paternal Great-grandparents are Alta Wooldridge of Nevada, MO and George and Peggy Kuhlman of Moundville, MO.

      The Hume Lions Annual Pancake Supper will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Hume Community Center.  Serving will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., menu includes; Pancakes, sausage & scrambled eggs.  Supper is on a free will donation basis for all age groups.  Proceeds go for Sight Conservation and Community Projects – Ball Field Bathrooms and Concession stand.

      Some of the area community churches are going together for a Community Easter Morning Choir and breakfast.  The choir will be performing “Amazing Love”, An Easter Celebration of Sacrifice and Resurrection created and arranged by Craig Adams.  The Choir will be performing at 7:30 a.m. in the Multi-purpose room of the Hume School with a carry-in breakfast to follow.  Please enter through the East doors of the school. 

       Everyone is invited to share in this glorious celebration.  If you would like to sing in the choir, please join us on Monday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Music room at the Hume School.

      Hume United Methodist Church News:  A Maundy Thursday Candle service will be held on March 28 at 7:00 p.m. with Senior Pastor Bob Simon.   We will be participating in the Community Easter Celebration at the Hume School with Church Services at 9:30 a.m. in our Sanctuary.  If you do not have a Church home you are all are invited to attend.

2013 Outlaw Bass Tournament


The 2013 Outlaw Bass Tournament is set for Sunday April 7th 2013 from sunrise until weigh in time which is 3:30pm. Here is a list of all the rules:

1. Rules: The following rules for the tournament will be used. These rules will be interpreted solely by the tournament officials and their decisions are final.

2. Eligibility: All individuals who have paid the appropriate entry fee prior to 8:00 pm on the day before the tournament. Open to all ages. Maximum of 2 people per team.

3. Entry Fee: $40.00 per team. Entries will be accepted in person to Dale Craft or Troy Minor.

4. Tournament Hours: Take off at sunrise. Weigh in at 3:00 p.m. All fish must be caught during the tournament hours.

5. Take off and weigh-in: No take off check in. Weigh-in at the home of Dale Craft, Rt. 1 Box 624, Butler, MO. (3.5 miles E on H Hwy, ¾ miles N on UU Hwy, gray house on the right.).

6. Tackle and Equipment: All bass must be caught on a rod and reel during tournament hours. Artificial and live bait allowed.

7. Safety and Sportsmanship: Safe boating and fishing practices must be observed. Life jackets must be worn at any time the big motor is running. All Missouri Department of Conservation and Missouri State Water Patrol regulations and laws apply.

8. Permitted Fishing Locations: Any location in which you have prior permissions. 

9. Scoring: Largemouth bass only. Length limits determined by your fishing location in accordance with Missouri Department of Conservation rules. 5 Fish limit. Total stringer weight per team will determine place. Any fish under the specified length brought to the scales will result in that fish being deducted from the total weight of the stringer. No frozen, mangled, or iced fish will be accepted. NO DEAD FISH WILL BE WEIGHED! Any dead fish weighed will result in a loss of the weight of that fish plus an additional 5 pound penalty. 

10. Protest: must be filed prior to pay out.

11. Pay Out: Of the 40$ entry fee, $5 per team goes to “Big Bass” award. Remainder of the entry fee is split between 1st place (50%), 2nd Place (30%), 3rd (20%). If less than 8 teams, placings will go 1st (60%) and 2nd (40%). 

12. Ties: will be determined by the team with the most number of fish. If a tie remains, the team with the biggest fish being weighed. If a tie is still in effect, the winner will be determined by coin toss (the first team to weigh will be considered heads)

13. Check in Late Penalty: 1 pound per minute up to 10 minutes, then disqualification. No excuses.

Obituary - Paul Gene Niemann


Memorial services for Paul Niemann will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Inurnment in Virginia Cemetery. Contributions to Compassus Hospice.

Paul Gene Niemann, age 81 of Adrian, Missouri died Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Wooldridge, Missouri. He was born December 24, 1931 to Charles and Bertha May Hargraves Niemann in St. Louis, Missouri.

Paul is survived by four daughters, Paula Austin and husband George of Blue Springs, Missouri, Tina Rice and husband Keith and Jeana Glossip all of Cameron, Missouri and Edie Thomas and husband Chuck of Wooldridge, Missouri; two brothers, Marvin Niemann and Jim Niemann, both of St. Louis, Missouri; and 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Tim, Kurt and Kevin; one brother, Charles Niemann; and one sister, Doris Nero.

Avis "Maxine" Davis, 84, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Benchmark Healthcare of Harrisonville in Harrisonville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
