Appleton City woman injured in late night crash in Bates County
Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a 1 vehicle accident last night around 11:30pm. This accident occurred when a 2002 Dodge Neon driven by 19 year old Sarissa N. Loney of Appleton City was traveling North on BB Highway a couple of miles South of Missouri Highway 18. Loney lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment. She was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by a Unknown Passer-By. The vehicle was totaled and was towed from the scene by Adrian Tow.

Fire in Adrain
Adrian Fire is on scene of a reported fire at the Adrian Motel. Located on Old Business 71. The fire does not appear to be major. It is currently extinguished at this time. Please use caution when traveling in this area.
Butler City Wide Garage Sale
The Spring Butler Chamber of Commerce City Wide Garage Sale has been set for Saturday May 4th in Butler. Registration deadline is April 19th at 3 pm, this will get your name and address in the city map publication. The cost is $10.00 per garage sale. A permit is required to hold a garage sale on that date in the city limits of Butler.
Contact the Butler Chamber of Commerce to register. The Chamber is located on the South Side of the Butler Square. The office is open Monday through Thursday 9 am to 3 pm.
City Maps will hit the streets on April 29th. Locations will be announced at a later date.
Obituary - Marian "Denny" Francis Baier
Marian “Denny” Francis Baier, 87, Raymore, Missouri, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore in Raymore, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Fontana Cemetery in Fontana, Kansas. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 25 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.
Denny was born March 22, 1926 in Fontana, Kansas, the daughter of William and Hazel (Stevens) DeNise. She was a 1944 graduated of Fontana High School. She married B. H. “Bud” Baier on April 14, 1946 in Fontana.
Prior to her marriage, Denny had worked as a secretary for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fontana. She enjoyed shopping, antiquing and playing cards. Denny and her husband, Bud, owned and operated Baier’s Den in Peculiar, Missouri. They started the business in 1950 as a kennel and in 1954 it became the first hunting preserve in Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bud, on September 21, 2005 and one sister, Wilda Campbell. She is survived by two sons, Gene Baier and his wife, Becky, Harrisonville, Missouri and Wayne Baier and his wife, Pat, Peculiar, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Ben Baier and wife, Suzanne, Amy Shuey and husband, Mike and Jenny Tryan and husband, Mike; 4 great-grandchildren, Cobey, Brett, Emilie and Bailey; other family and friends.
Butler Golf Team 1st Match results
Results from our 1st golf match are as followed:
1st place Drexel
2nd place Butler
3rd place Archie
Brett Miller led the Bears with a team low score of 43 which he finished 3rd place all-around individual.
Geoffrey Algiere finished with a score of 48 which placed him in 5th of all-around individual scores.
The varsity was able to finish their rounds that afternoon, however the junior varsity were unable due to the later start and deteriorating conditions. All played well and I very much look forward to this season with this group of young men.
