Weather Update: Cooler Temps and Chances for Rain

Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are tracking into northern MO and northeast KS this evening, and will slowly develop southward toward the Missouri River overnight. This will be welcome rain to many, but rainfall amounts should generally stay under a quarter of an inch.

If you don't get much rain from tonight's activity, do not worry, there looks to be a change to a wetter pattern on the horizon. This active pattern won't arrive until later next week though, so we have several more dry days in store before then.

Shots Fired In North Butler

Butler Police Department along with Bates County Sheriff Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol is in route to a shots fired call. The call is North of Butler on Orange Street around Hammett's Auto Collision Repair. The Police are looking for a dark colored SUV with a burnt out Drivers Side tail light. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information becomes available.

Minor Traffic Accident Involving A Cop Car

The Butler Police is on scene of a non injury minor 2 vehicle accident on Fran Avenue and Ft. Scott Streets here in Butler. The accident occured when a Butler City Police Car rear-ended a smaller passenger car that was in the turning lane of the stoplight at Fran and Ft. Scott. The scene is almost clear and reports are being taken. Neither of the vehicles recieved much damage.

Great Job Opening In Butler School District

Butler R-V Schools is seeking an applicant for the position of Para-professional for the 2013-14 school year. Applicants must have 60 hours of college degree work and must be able to pass a criminal background check. Starting pay is 11.07 per hour and health benefits are paid by the district. Weather Update: Final Day Of The Heat Wave

Ongoing showers over Nebraska and Iowa may gradually dissipate this morning. However a few strong storms could redevelop later this afternoon along a front near the Missouri/Iowa border. This front will settle southward overnight and early Thursday bringing an end to the oppressive heat of the past few days. Rainfall amounts won't be all that high, but should still provide beneficial amounts to drought stricken portions north central and northwestern Missouri.

Friday and Saturday will be picture perfect days if you like the more comfortable conditions of early Fall.

Obituary - Larry Lewis Frazier

Larry Lewis Frazier, 67, Gravois Mills, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri, died September 9, 2013 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Contributions may be made to Phi Gamma Delta, Larry Frazier Memorial, c/o John Davis, P.O. Box 80, Liberty, MO 64069.

Larry was born February 6, 1946 in Adrian, Missouri, a son of Thomas and Ruth Winnonah (Lewis) Frazier. He was a 1964 graduate of Harrisonville High School and a 1968 graduate of William Jewell College where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta.

Larry was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received a purple heart, bronze star and an air medal. He moved to Kingman, Kansas after his release from the military in 1970 and managed the Ben Franklin Store in Kingman. He later went to work for Fabpro Oriented Polymers in Kingman, for a number of years, and in 2009, he moved to Osage Beach, Missouri.

Larry was a member of the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie, Missouri. He was a member and past Master of the Ninnescah Masonic Lodge #230 A.F. & A.M. in Kingman, Kansas; the Kansas York Rite Chapter #71, Kingman; Wichita, Kansas Scottish Rite and the Midian Shrine in Wichita.

Survivors include two brothers, Thomas H. Frazier, Kansas City, Missouri and Robert “Bob” Frazier, Overland Park, Kansas; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
