Press Release Butler Police Department: Butler Man Arrested On Sexual Assault Charges

Butler man arrested on 09/08/13 on sexual assault charges:


On 09/08/13 Michael Davis, who lives in Butler MO, was detained for questioning. After Officers were notified that the suspect was alerted to an investigation alleging him of sexual assault Butler Officers went to Davis’s residence where he was taken into custody. 
 On 09/09/13 Davis was officially charged with 3 counts of Forcible Rape, 2 counts of Forcible Sodomy, and 3 counts of Statutory Sodomy and his bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety.
Davis was arraigned on 09/11/13 where his bond was reduced to $10,000 cash or surety. Davis is currently out on bond awaiting his next court date.

Obituary - Pam Highley

Pam Highley, 65 of rural Adrian died Wednesday, September 11 at the Saint Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 14 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. Visitation will be immediately prior to services at the chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Contributions in Pam's memory may be given to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be sent to www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Pam is survived by son Keith Highley and wife Tracy of Adrian; daughter Stephanie Highley and Partner Tracy Jones of Vine Grove, Kentucky; brother Mike Silver and wife Joyce of Drexel; sister Kathy Perkins and husband Glen of Oxark, MO and three grandchildren: Nick and Sawyer Highley and Cody Jones. Pam was preceded in death by her husband Roger Allen Highley in 2012.

Obituary - Mary Chlorene Patterson

Graveside services for Chlorene Patterson will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, Missouri with Gary Schowengerdt officiating. There will be no visitation. Contributions to the Adrian Fire Department.

Mary Chlorene Patterson, age 92 of Adrian, Missouri, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was born May 30, 1921 to William McKinley and Sada Rozena Baie Catron in Adrian, Missouri.

Chlorene is survived by a daughter, Elaine Patterson of Adrian, Missouri; and two half-brothers, David and Lyle Catron. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Patterson; and a brother Junior Catron.

Butler Bears vs Sherwood Marksmen Jr High Football Summary- 9-9-13

On Monday, Sept 9, the Butler Bears junior high football travelled to Sherwood for their opening game of the season against the Sherwood Marksmen.  The Bears lost a tough game by a final score of 18-32.  Cole Kuda scored two touchdowns for the Bears, including a 73 yard kickoff return and a 46 yard fumble return.  Martin Melhuish scored the Bears only offensive touchdown in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter on a 46 yard touchdown run.  The Marksmen, however, rushed the ball very successfully against the Bears for most of the game, slowly wearing down the Bears defense for 5 steady scores over 4 quarters. 
Defensively, Martin Melhuish led the Bears with 12 tackles.  He also intercepted a Marksmen pass in the red zone in the closing minute of the first half to keep the Bears only behind by a 14-12 score at half. 
The Bears travel to Lee Summit Christian for their next game on Monday, Sept 16, at 5 pm.

Obituary - Colleen Caroline (Gench) Parker

Colleen Caroline (Gench) Parker age 82, who grew up in the Rockville, Mo. area, passed away Tuesday at Independence, Mo. Arrangements are under drection of the Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, and a graveside service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, in the Appleton City Cemetery. Memorials to the Appleton City Museum are suggested.

Press Release Butler Police Department: Stolen Batteries Deems John Deere


On 09/11/2013 at approx. 11:30am The Butler Police Department responded to Deems John Deere here in Butler on a possible theft call. upon arrival Officers were informed that 2 men in a white pick up had stole batteries from behind the building. Officers observed approx. 20 batteries in the back of the truck. After questioning the suspects and watching the video both men were arrested and transported to the Butler Police Station.
