Dog Found:


Found- Black and White, male,  Border Collie. He has a collar but no tags.
Located 4 to 5 miles south of 52 Highway just off  O Highway  He’s been there about a week.  For more info call 918-281-9024 would like to find this dogs owner and get him back home.

Hit & Run Accident In Butler


Butler Police Department is in route to a hit and run accident in the parking lot of Corner Hardware here in Butler. The vehicle description is a White Ford Tauras that left the scene after hitting a green Buick Century and was heading East towards the square. Bates County Live will update this when and if more information becomes available.

Obituary - Ronald Eugene Snider

Ronald Eugene Snider, 76, of Clinton, Missouri, died Saturday morning, September 21, 2013 at his home with his wife and three children by his side.He was born June 17, 1937 in Lowry City, Mo., the son of Chester Eugene Snider and Opal Lee (Chiles) Snider.  Ronald married Jo Ann Shelton on October 26, 1958 in Montrose, Mo., and she survives of the home.

He made the most of every aspect of his life.  Of his many capabilities and talents, friends and family recall his expertise as a mechanic, carpenter, craftsman, and avid fly fisherman.  He was a member and deacon of Golden Valley Christian Church in Clinton, and over the years devoted his energy to any opportunity for ministry-teaching, singing, visitation, and hosting numerous gatherings.


Ronald was employed by Peabody Coal Company, Arch Mineral Corporation, Parday Consulting Corporation, and finished his professional career with Hilty Quarries.In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by one son, Jon Snider and wife Jackie of Troy, Illinois; two daughters, Nancy Webber and husband Mark of Garden City, Mo., and Beth Plessinger and husband Bill of Thornville, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jacob Snider and wife Kaylee, Jared Snider, Sarah Plessinger, Olivia Plessinger, Abigail Plessinger, Garrett Plessinger, and Dottie Plessinger; one sister, Betty Thomas and husband Ward of Independence, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.  Reverend Bob Fenwick and Reverend Tim Randall will officiate.  Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Mo.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorial contributions to Golden Valley Christian Church, 611 South Third Street, Clinton, Mo., 64735, or these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.  Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.

BATES COUNTY ELKS LODGE- 7th ANNUAL CAR, TRUCK AND BIKE SHOW



The Bates County Elks Lodge will be hosting the 7th Annual Car, Truck and Bike show to raise funds for their organization.  The event will be held at the Butler Elks Lodge September 28, 2013, this Saturday, starting at 10:00 a.m. There will be 13 classes with a $15.00 entry fee.  1st and 2nd place awards, awarded at 3 p.m., a 50/50 pot, food and drinks on location with the Lady Elk’s Café’ open for your air conditioned comfort. The event is free to the public.

TIME TO GET YOUR FLU SHOTS


Bates County Health Center will begin giving flu shots on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. No appointments required, open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Extended hours include remaining open until 7:00 p.m., the first Thursday of every month. Flu shots are available on a first come, first served basis as long as vaccine is available. Call the office at 660-679-6108 for further clarification if needed.
