Butler Bears vs Lincoln Cardinals Jr High Football Summary- 9-23-13

On Monday, Sept 23, the Butler Bears junior high football team hosted the Lincoln Cardinals for their second game of the season.  The Bears won the game by a final score of 8-0.  Good special teams and good defense gave the Bear offense much better field position to work with this week, and they did a great job keeping the ball on the Cardinal side of the field for most of the game.  RB Cole Kuda had a strong rushing game with 97 yards on 13 carries.  QB Seth Stump led the Bears on a late 54 yard drive for the go-ahead score in the 4th quarter, finishing with his own 2 yard touchdown run.  RB Cole Kuda converted the 2-point play following the touchdown. Defensively, LB Martin Melhuish led a very stubborn Bears defense this week with 11 tackles.  The Bears stopped 3 different Lincoln drives by coming up with turnovers, including a fumble recovery by DL Wesley Reed, and interceptions by DB’s Cody Gabriel and Drake Stephens.

The Bears host El Dorado Springs for their next game on Monday, Sept 30, at 5:30 pm.
