Weather Update: Rainfall Totals

The Rain continues to move across the area this morning. Here are the estimated rainfall totals since Tuesday morning. Some areas have had 3 to 5 inches of rain!

Resturant Fire In Nevada

Nevada firemen spent the night responding to a fire at the Hardee's restaurant, 200 W. Austin Boulevard. The firefighters were called out by Western Missouri 911 dispatchers about 12:30 a.m. and left the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m. today. Further information should be available from Fire Chief Bill Thornton later today. American Red Cross disaster assistance team volunteers were called out to assist the firefighters at the scene.

Flood Warning Issued For Bates County

The National weather Service in Pleasant Hill Missouri has issued a flood warning for the South Grand River area in Northern Bates County. Please turn around and don't drowned. Bates County Live will update will all the severe weather watches and warnings.

Weather Update: Flooding Possible

 Thunderstorms will continue to build through the evening and spread across the region overnight. The latest data suggests a VERY wet first half of Thursday before rain exits in the afternoon. 1-3" of additional rainfall is possible, and flash flood WATCHES are posted for the region. Please help us share the message about the incoming rain and flood risk.

Velma Darlene Zeiler, 72 of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away October 29, 2013 at her home in Harrisonville. Velma was born June 14, 1941 in Harrisonville, the daughter of Benjamin Paul and Mary Alice (Moody) Rogers.

FLAG FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT PLAYERS NEEDED

 The First Annual Adult Flag Football Tournament will be held Saturday November 2^nd at the Youth Flag Field in Butler. For registration and rules contact Tray Douty 660-200-6031.

This is a double elimination adult flag football tournament for ages 18 and over. 

1^st place $500.00 ,2^nd place $300.00 ,3^rd place $200.00, based on an 8 team playing. Flags, footballs and tees will be provided.

Coats for Kids

 

 

Winter is quickly approaching and every child should have a warm coat to get them through the bitter winter...and that’s up to us..those that have a place in our hearts for those in need.

 

The Annual Coats for Kids program is sponsored this year by the DSWA C.P.A. Firm, and Larry and Carol Ann Winburn. They have teamed up to make the Coats for Kids drive a success again this year.

 

Donations are being accepted now for the purchase of approximately 230 to 240 coats for grade school children in the Bates County area. Coats for Kids provides warm winter coats for 8 different schools and 4 headstart programs within the bates county area. The proceeds are kept local with all the coats being purchased through local bates county merchants.

 

Your donations may be sent to the DSWA Office in Butler at 210 W. Ohio Street or you may send your donations directly to Larry and Carol Ann Winburn at 109 Ranch Drive, Butler. Any amount, big or small, will us help reach the goal of purchasing  230 to 240 coats for the Coats for Kids program for 2013.

 

The Children thank you in advance for your donations. The deadline to donate in time for the delivery date will be announced at a later date.

LITTLE MISS SNOWFLAKE AND LITTLE JACK FROST

It’s time to start thinking about Little Miss Snowflake and Little Jack Frost contestants. Register now at the Butler Chamber of Commerce Office for your little one to participate. Contestants should be ages 4 through 8. The winners will be based on Chamber Coupon Book sales. In the event of a tie, interviews will be held. Winners will receive a crown and ride beside Santa in the Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 7^th at 6:00 pm, with the remaining candidates riding in a wagon provided for the parade. Winners and runners up may keep 10 percent of their coupon book sales. The Butler Chamber of Commerce office is located on the East Side of the Square to sign your little one up.
