Butler Fire Department News Release: House Fire In Butler

BUTLER FIRE DEPARTMENT

On Friday, January 3 at approximately 4:58 P.M., the Butler Fire Dept. with automatic mutual aid from Adrian Fire were dispatched to  report of a structure fire at 4 Cedar Lane in Butler.

 On arrival heavy smoke was found in the interior of a trailer home.

 The fire located in the center of the structure around the furnace, and was extinguished with moderate damage to the area of origin and light to moderate smoke damage throughout the remainder of the structure.  The fire was declared under control at 5:20 P.M..

 The fire was determined to have been accidental in nature due to a possible furnace malfunction.

 
Units were on the scene until 6:16 P.M.

 

Lacygne Woman Injured In Benton County Crash


Around 10:30am this morning The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a 2 vehicle accident On Missouri 7 Highway and Cold Springs Road in rural Benton County.

The accident occurred when the 1995 Nissan Altima driven by 46 years old Deborah Walker of Lacygne,Kansas was traveling Southbound when she rear-ended a 2008 Pontiac Vibe driven by Charlene A. Jones 52, of Calhoun Missouri who was attempting to turn off of 7 Highway. Walker was taken to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital by Cole Camp EMS with minor injuries. Both vehicles received extensive damage.

Weather Update: Wind Chills 7am Monday


We're looking at dangerous and potentially life-threatening wind chill values by daybreak Monday as temperatures fall below zero in most locations. Be prepared for wind chills -15F to -35F! With high temperatures failing to reach 5 degrees on Monday, this could be the coldest day in nearly 20 years!

Some jars of Prego pasta sauce recalled


The FDA says consumers should not eat any jars of Prego Traditional Italian sauce with military time codes CT BJ ZV 0330 through CT BJ ZV 0449.The company has not released details about why the 24-ounce jars of Prego Traditional Italian sauce could be prone to spoiling. The Food and Drug Administration says no one has gotten sick and the issue was found by the company’s quality control testing.

 The jars affected have expiration dates of June 16, 2015 and military time codes of CT BJ ZV 0330 through CT BJ ZV 0449. They were shipped December 21 to stores in seven states including Missouri.

FDA says Consumers who bought any of those jars should not eat the sauce and should return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund, or can call Campbell at (866) 270-9303 for more information

Driver Examination Stations Closed On Martin Luther King Jr. Day‏


The Missouri State Highway Patrol would like to inform the public that driver examination stations throughout the state will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 20, 2014. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!

Weather Update: More Snow for Saturday & Sunday


Another round of light snow is expected Saturday through early Sunday, resulting in around 1/2" of snow in far north central and northwest MO, 1-2" in and around the KC metro, and 2-4" across parts of central MO. Also prepare for much colder temperatures early next week, including possible wind chills around or below -20 early Monday morning

Miami School Closed Tomorrow


The Miami R-1 School District will be closed tomorrow Friday January 3rd , 2014 due to the weather conditions. Bates County Live will update all school closing and business closing when they become available to us.

Kansas City Man Hurt In Cass County Crash


Around 2:20pm this afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with The Belton Police Department responded to a 1 vehicle accident on Southbound I-49 at 58 Highway in Belton. The accident occurred when the 2009 Kenworth driven by 23 year old Daniel Davis of Kansas City Missouri was traveling Southbound on I -49 and drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by Belton ambulance to Belton Regional Medical Center with Minor Injuries.
