Bates County Sheriff's Department Press Release: CCW Classes



The Bates County Sheriff's Office will be holding a free CCW class to residents of Bates County. You must be a resident of Bates County to take the class. You will be required to show your ID at the beginning of the class to prove you are a Bates County resident. The class will be held on Feb 8, 2014 at the Bates County Annex. The class starts at 8 a.m. and lasts for 8 hours. You will need a ...semi-automatic and a revolver with 50 rounds for each gun. You also need to bring safety glasses and hearing protection. If you do not have the required guns, guns will be available to rent from the instructor at a cost of $25.00 for each gun. This includes the ammo. Obituary - Harley Harvey

Harley Harvey 73 years old of Appleton City, passed away Thursday. Arrangements are under direction of the Hill & Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, and services are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with pastor Tony Reynolds officiating. Burial is to follow in the Myers Cemetery, Appleton City. The family receives friends between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Hill & Son Funeral Home. Memorials to the Hudson Hustlers 4H Club are suggested.

Obituary - Kenneth Leroy Adams

Kenneth Leroy Adams 85 years old of Nevada, Missouri and a native of Rockville, Mo., passed away Thursday at his home. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Services are scheduled at ten o'clock Monday morning at the funeral home with burial planned in the Moore Cemetery. The family receives friends between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Ferry Funeral Home and memorials to Vernon County Cancer Relief are suggested.

Cancellation Endangered Silver Advisory - Lexington Police Department - Marilyn McDaniel‏




The Lexington Police Department has cancelled an Endangered SILVER Advisory for a missing adult incident that occurred at 1221 Highway 13 South, Lexington, MO at 02:00 AM on January 10, 2014.

The endangered SILVER advisory missing adult is:
Marilyn McDaniel, a white, female, age 62, hgt 502, 110 lbs, brown hair,brown eyes, medium complexion, wearing pajamas and a long black leather coat.  Unique characteristics:  Marilyn goes by the nickname of Tina.

Diagnosed Medical Condition(s):  Alcohol Induced Dementia
Brief circumstances regarding the Endangered Silver Person incident McDaniel has been located unharmed.

Weather Update: Friday Morning Commute Could Be Slick



Friday morning commute could be slick, as light rain is expected to begin while temperatures Thursday night into Friday morning will likely be below freezing. Expect rain to begin after midnight across most of western Missouri, lasting thro...ugh Friday afternoon. Temperatures will warm to above freezing by late morning to early afternoon, ending the icing threat. Areas in far northern Missouri, may see freezing rain through the early afternoon. Around .01" to .05" of ice accumulation is possible, so drive very carefully on your Friday morning commute.

Update: Body Found In Cass County


The Cass County Sheriff's Office recovered the body of an adult female from the Union Pacific Rail line in the area of E. 175th and S. Boardman Rd. northwest of Pleasant Hill Thursday morning. Investigators are working to determine the identity of the victim. Evidence at the scene indicates that the victim had been struck by a train sometime in the last 24 hours. A vehicle located near the scene was removed and may help to identify the victim.

UPDATE: Bates County Sheriff's Department Press Release: Police Chase This Morning







On the 9th day of January, 2014, Deputies attempted to
stop a 4-door white truck traveling south on Fulton Street, Butler, Missouri at a high rate of speed.  Deputy then attempted to stop the subject and the subject fled.  Deputies stated that the subject was going through yards, running over trash cans, and hit two trees causing extensive damage to his vehicle.  The subject was finally apprehended at Country Club Terr. and Main Street, Butler.  Assisting was Butler Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol.




 The subject was identified as John D. Wilson, 23 of Butler, Missouri.  Wilson has been charged with a Class D Felony of Resisting Arrest, Careless and Imprudent Driving, and Driving while intoxicated.  More charges are pending.  Bond was set at $5000.00 cash or surety
