Funeral services for Larry Berry will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Larry L. Berry Gymnasium in Hume, Missouri. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at the Osborn-Evergreen Cemetery in Osborn, Missouri. Contributions to Larry L. Berry Memorial Scholarship Fund. Services under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Larry L. Berry, age 65 of Hume, Missouri died Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott, Kansas. He was born August 13, 1948 to Robert Eugene and Floy Lucille Angelo Berry in Jacksonville, Illinois. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Lesa Berry of Hume, Missouri; two sons, Robert “Bobby” Berry and Braden Berry, both of Hume, Missouri; two daughters, Stacy Danz and husband Jerry of Cartersville, Georgia and Jenny Rackley and husband Steve of Gainesville, Missouri; one brother, Carson Berry and wife Diane of Tampa, Florida; and four grandchildren, Treydon Rackley, Zack Danz, Trent Rackley and Zayne Danz. He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Calvin and Rosalie Donahue.

Update: Three people found dead in rural Vernon County residence. 

 More information was released Saturday afternoon regarding a death investigation that was started Friday at a rural Nevada address. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher confirmed Saturday afternoon that his office is investigating the death of three people at a rural county residence south of Nevada. The Sheriff confirmed that three people were found dead in the residence “preliminary evidence indicates all three of the deceased at the residence died from gunshot wounds”. The Sheriff also said they do not believe there is any other suspects involved in the incident and plans to issue a full press release as early as Monday. Mosher said more than 30 officers and investigators responded when the Southwest Missouri Major Case Squad was called out on Friday.

Tate Stevens Performing Tonight In Rich Hill

Tate Stevens will take the stage in Rich Hill tonight July 5th, 2014, For those of you who don't know who Tate Stevens is he is an American County Music Artist, who won the second season of the X Factor T.v. Show in 2012, securing a $5 million recording contract with Syco Music and RCA Records Nashville.

After touring with a band for several years immediately after high school, Stevens returned to Missouri to settle down and raise his young family, working for the city of Belton, Missouri repairing roads. He graduated from Belton High School in 1994 then joined a local band in 2005 and formed his own band in 2008, releasing an independent album and touring on weekends and holidays. In early 2012, he auditioned for The X Factor, progressing through the various stages of the competition, until winning on December 20, 2012.

Come early tonight and bring your lawn chairs and enjoy Kelsie May preforming at 6pm, The Jenna McDaniel band from 6:30-7:15 followed by Tate Stevens around 8pm. After the show will be a street dance/ karaoke. Head down to Rich Hill and have a awesome night.

Vernon County Sheriffs Office: Death Investigation

BREAKING: Authorities are investigating a death in rural Vernon County, MO. Sheriff Jason Mosher did confirm that he called out the Southwest Missouri Major Case Squad for assistance Friday afternoon but said he could not give out any other information at this time. Bates County Live will update this when more information becomes available.

Happy Independence Day everyone! The forecast looks fantastic for any outdoor activities for the remainder of today as well as for fireworks festivities tonight. Expect highs this afternoon in the low to mid 80s with low humidity. Winds will be out of the southeast this afternoon and tonight between 7-12 mph. Tonight sunset will occur at 8:49pm for those whose fireworks shows begin "after dusk". Temperatures around 9pm will be very pleasant in the mid 70s. Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report July 3



  • On 7/3/14 The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 26 year old Wesley M. Hays of Pleasanton, Kansas. He was arrested on 1.) DWI-Alcohol-Persistent Offender 2.) Involuntary Manslaughter 3.) Possession of Marijuana 4.) Failed to drive on right half of the roadway. He was life flighted to Mercy in Joplin with Serious Injuries.

Services will also memorialize Patricia’s late husband, Kenneth Stuart, and U.S. Military Honors will be conferred on his behalf. Memorial contributions are suggested to Susan G. Patricia J. “Patti Jo” Stuart, 73 of Butler, Missouri passed away July 3, 2014 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. She was born June 21, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harold and Clariece (Smith) Adams.

Patti Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Stuart; and brothers Chick Adams and Jim Adams, as well as a sister, Roxie Adams.

She is survived by her children; son Mike Stuart and wife Julie, with grandchildren Marc, David, Thomas, Becky, Danny, and Katie, and great-grandchildren Bailey, Keller, Harper, and Nora; son Kenny Stuart, with grandchildren Kenneth and Samuel; daughter Christina Wright and husband Steve, with grandchildren Ryan and Hailey; and daughter Maggie Stuart, with grandchildren Karly, TJ and Kenny.

Patti Jo will be remembered as a good wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed
