Nevada Police Department 4th of July Weekend Summary

  • Nevada police officers report the arrest of a 23-year-old Nevada man over the Fourth of July Weekend in connection with the alleged assault of another man. Nevada police Sgt. Steve Bastow says officers responding to a business in the 700 block of N. Osage during the early-morning hours of Friday found the 37-year-old victim unconscious with a head injury after the alleged assault. Officers found the suspect and he was booked at the Vernon County jail on a felony assault charge. Sgt. Bastow identified the suspect as Cameron Lee Cartwright and his original bond was $25,000 cash only before judge Neal Quitno changed it to $25.000.00, cash or surety as long as he does not consume alcohol. Anyone with information that might help police combat crime is encouraged to call the Nevada Police Department, 417-448-5100.

  • Nevada police officers investigated a domestic assault and two vehicle tampering incidents over the Fourth of July weekend. Sgt. Steve Bastow says one vehicle tampering incident was reported Thursday by the owner of a 1998 model truck who told officers a mechanic told him paint had been put in the vehicle fuel tank sometime between June 17 and June 24. The other vehicle tampering was reported about 11:00 p.m. Friday night in the 1400 block of East Austin Boulevard. A witness told officers a suspect fled the scene on foot and officers are looking for a 20-year-old Nevada man for questioning. The domestic assault was reported about 2:45 p.m. Friday afternoon when a woman told police her boy-friend threatened her with a knife in the 300 block of South West Street. Officers arrested a suspect but his name has not been released, pending the formal filing of charges.
