Weather Update: Cold Front Settled In

A cold front settled south through Kansas and Missouri Monday but left behind some of the most beautiful weather you're likely to see in this region of the country in mid-July. Open those windows cause the lovely weather is here to stay... for a few days at least. Expect afternoon highs to top out in the 70s today through Thursday with a slight warm up to around 80 by Friday. Overnight lows in the 50s will warm into the 60s, but still sounds like good "sleeping with the windows open" weather. So, for the next few days you wont be able to use the "oppressive heat and humidity" excuse to stay away from the great outdoors.

How are you taking advantage of this lovely weather?

Hume Community News

Hume News

The community of Hume was saddened at the loss of Larry Berry on July 3.  Larry and his family came to our community as a Principal and Coach many years ago.  He would eventually become Superintendent of our school.  Many students were inspired by him to go on and become educators, coaches and Principals themselves.

Larry gave his all to everything he did, his love of his family, being involved with every thing at the school, his church, community and singing to those who had lost loved ones.  He spread his smile and his talents throughout the county when he became Southern Commissioner of Bates County.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lesa, Bobby, Braden, Stacy, Jenny and the rest of the family.  He will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends.  Have a wonderful time singing with the Angels!

The community would also like to extend their sympathy to the family of Rob Robertson.  Our prayers and thoughts are with his wife, family, church family and friends.  He also will greatly be missed by all.

Jordan Morrison and Tommy Whitten gave everyone a scare on Sunday, July 13 when they had a wreck just east of town.  They have a long road ahead of them, but are expected to make a full recovery.  Our continued prayers for healing are with you boys.
On June 28 Ryland Austin celebrated his 1st birthday at McGinnis Youth Center with a host of family and friends.

The Hume Fair is right around the corner, July 29 through August 2.  The candidates are busy selling tickets, so please support them in their endeavor.

On Wednesday, July 30 don’t forget the homemade ice cream social at 6:30 p.m. (please bring homemade ice cream or dessert if you can) with the gospel sing at 7:00 p.m.  There will be a short dedication to the ones who have purchased park benches. All are invited to sing and share their talent.  Following the gospel sing, the Riverside Cowboy Church will hold services in the arena at 8:15 p.m.   See ya at the fair!
