Heat Advisory Issued
The Bates County area is under a heat advisory until 7 pm tomorrow night. The Heat index will be in the 100s on Tuesday afternoon.
Weather Update: Dangerous Heat Today and Tomorrow
A heat advisory is in affect from Noon today until 7PM Tuesday. This is due to high temperatures reaching into the low to mid 90s this afternoon and factoring in the humidity the heat index will be in the 97 to 105 range. Tuesday, temperatures will further rise into the mid to upper 90s with heat index values ranging from 102 to 107. With the recent cool spell and the fact that we have had very few hot days so far this summer, many may not already be acclimated to the heat. As such, extra precautions should be taken to beat the heat in what will be the hottest stretch of the summer thus far!!

![]() |
| Tyler Millman |
According to the press release, the vehicle continued to head south on I-49 and then turned off at the Sheldon exit and headed west on N highway. The pursuit quickly came to an end when a Trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisting the Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips at 1425 road deflating two of the vans tires. Millman was taken into custody when the vehicle came to a stop and was transported to the Vernon County Jail. Sheriff’s Deputies also found what they believe to be methamphetamines in the van as well. “Pursuits are dangerous and we don’t want to have to do them, but people need to learn if you run from law enforcement, there will be consequences and you will go to jail” said Mosher. Millman is currently being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
