UPDATE: Stolen Vehicle out of Butler

The stolen 2008 Pontiac G6 that was stolen early this morning from a address on West Atkinson Street in Butler has been found abandoned in Lees Summit, Missouri early this afternoon.

Bates County Live is still gathering more information on this incident and will try to update with a press release later in the week.

Obituary - Mildred Romona Merritt

Mildred Romona Merritt
Mildred Merritt, 96 of Butler formerly of Windsor died Saturday, July 26 at the Bates County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 29 at the Windsor United Methodist Church in Windsor, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 immediately prior to services at the church. Services under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel of Butler. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery at Windsor. Contributions may be given to the church or Elta Chloe Merritt Scholarship Fund @ Windsor High School. 

Mildred was born February 26, 1918 in Janesville, Wisconsin the daughter of Henry and Cora Mae Duel Rawley. Mildred lived in Windsor, Missouri until she and her husband moved to Butler in 2000 to live with their daughter, Mary. She was preceded in death by her husband Vern in 2009.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Mary Markham and husband Charles of Butler; granddaughters Marsha Mead and husband Scott and Tobi Markham all of Butler; Three great-grandchildren Trevor, Baylor and Tori. Also surviving are sisters Kay Schroerder, Una Havlik and Charlotte Braund. Mildred was preceded in death by husband Vern Merritt and son Harold.

Butler Police on look out for stolen vehicle

The Butler Police Department is on the look out for a stolen 2008 Pontiac G6 white in color with a unknown Colorado license plate on it. 

The vehicle was stolen from 200 West Atkinson Street in Butler today in the early morning hours and maybe in route to the Kansas City area . 

If you see this vehicle please contact your local authorities or the Butler Police Department 660-679-6131.

UPDATE : Inmate from Pettis Co Jail still on loose


Brandon McGee

Jail staff discovered 29 year old Brandon McGee missing from the jail around 10pm.  He is believed to have fled southbound on foot, wearing black gym shorts and a white t-shirt.

McGee is described as a slender white mail, 5'9" 130 lbs with brown eyes, sandy brown hair, and a goatee.  See attached photo of McGee.

While recent residences are in the Sedalia and Pettis County areas, he is known to frequent Morgan and Benton Counties to the south.  McGee was being held on Pettis County charges of fraudulent use of credit devices.

Anyone seeing or who may have knowledge of the whereabouts of Brandon McGee are urged to call 9-1-1 or contact the Pettis County Sheriff's Office at 660-827-0052.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrested Report 7/27/14

The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 53 year old Roger L. Fink of Drexel, Missouri after a motorcycle accident he was in around 11:15pm last night just South of Merwin on Y Highway. He was arrested on 1.) Felony driving while intoxicated 2.) Driving a motorcycle without a proper endorsement. He was released to seek medical attention and was life flighted to a Kansas City Hospital to seek treatment for serious injuries.

UPDATE: Drexel man life flighted after motorcycle wreck North of Amsterdam

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County EMS and Bates County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a 1 vehicle motorcycle accident on Y Highway .7 miles South of Route 18 at Merwin.

The accident occurred around 11:15pm last night when the 2014 Harley Davidson driven by Roger L. Fink, 53, of Drexel, Missouri was traveling Northbound when he struck a deer and was ejected from the bike.

Mr. Fink was transported by Bates County EMS to the Adrian helicopter pad and life flighted to a Kansas City Hospital, with serious injuries. The bike was totaled and transported by private tow.

Motorcycle Wreck on Y Highway Between Amsterdam and Merwin

The Missouri State Highway Patrol along with The Bates County Sheriffs Office and Amsterdam Fire Department is in route to a 1 vehicle motorcycle accident with injuries. 

The accident is on Y Highway in between Amsterdam and Merwin. Bates County Live will update this when more information becomes available.
