UPDATE: Police Pursuit In Adrian

On August 5th at 9:20 p.m. an Adrian Police Officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on a white in color Ford Thunderbird on 8th street for failure to maintain right half of Roadway.

The vehicle took off traveling West on 8th street failing to yield.
When it came to the T intersection at 8th and Cemetery Road it slid
through the intersection, up through the ditch into a yard.

The driver fled the scene on foot traveling West. The passenger
was questioned and later released. The car was towed from the
scene by Adrian Tow.

The investigation is ongoing and we will update when more on
the suspects information becomes available.

New Telephone Scam Going Around Bates County

Mid America Live was contacted by a resident in the Adrian area in regards to a possible phone scam that is going around. The scam is from supposedly someone with IRS telling you that you have been audited and you owe the IRS so much money. 

The scam then states that if you couldn't take care of the amount that you owe the cops will come to your  house within the hour to seize everything you own and arrest you. The scammers also stated that She had a court date in South Dakota and she could send her own lawyer or get a court appointed one.

If you have received this phone call or anyone like it please hang up immediately and call your local law enforcement agency. Never give any personal information over the phone to ANYONE.

Gary Allen Parks, 70 of Butler, Missouri passed away August 6, 2014 at Heartland of Willow Lane in Butler. Gary was born October 7, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Roy and Rosemary (Kavanaugh) Parks. Gary was employed 46 years by the United States Postal Service, working most of that time at the Shawnee Mission post office.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sons: Tracy Parks of Kansas City, Kansas, and Roger Parks, Sr., of Butler; one daughter, Janet Wason and husband James of Butler; grandchildren Aaron Smith, Matthew Garr, Britney Parks, Roger Parks, Jr., Logan Parks, and Cassie Wason; and great-grandchildren Jacob Smith, Jack Winkler, and Gabrielle Garr.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report 8/6/14


On 8/6/14 around 7:04a.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 57 year old Victor E. Baldwin of Drexel, Missouri. He was arrested on 1.) Felony Driving while intoxicated - Chronic Offender 2.) Careless and imprudent driving resulting in a accident. He was booked into jail and later released to seek medical attention.








Drexel Man Injured In Early Morning Rollover Accident

Around 6:00 a.m. this morning The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bates County Sheriffs Office, Bates County EMS and Drexel Fire Department all responded to a 1 vehicle rollover accident on County Road 14001 just South of Missouri 18 Highway East of Drexel.

The accident occurred when the 1989 Jeep Cherokee driven by 57 year old Victor E. Baldwin of Drexel, Missouri traveled off the East side of the road and over corrected causing the vehicle to go off the West side of the roadway and overturn.

Mr. Baldwin was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler with minor injuries. The vehicle was totaled and towed by a private vehicle.

Damage to the building
Just after 11:00 a.m. this morning the Butler Police Department responded to a vehicle that had crashed into a building on Ohio Street just across the street from the Butler Post Office.

According to The Butler Police Department the accident occurred when a elderly female driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. She wasn't hurt and refused medical treatment at the scene. The building and vehicle both received minor damage.
