Lost Dog In Butler

A male beagle, brown and white with a gray collar went missing Monday morning in the vicinity of Ft. Scott and Olive Street. 

He may have part of a broken chain and answers to the name Champ.

Obituary - Donald Eugene Erhart


Donald Eugene Erhart, Appleton City, passed away Sunday, September 7, at his home at the age of 73. Arrangements are under direction of Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, and a memorial service is scheduled at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, September 13, at the funeral home with Jerry Johannigmeier officiating. A private burial is planned in the Montrose Cemetery. Memorials to the Association for the Blind are suggested.

UPDATE Bates County Sheriffs Office: Search Warrant Served In Archie Area

Warrant was issued on the suspect from the search warrant executed at 14989 NW County Road 221 Archie on September 7, 2014 involving the stolen truck. Jeremy Lee Nash DOB 09-20-1975 from Archie Mo.

Jeremy Lee Nash is currently in the Bates County Jail on a $50,000.00 bond for receiving stolen property a Class C felony more charges pending.


On 08-26-2014 a burglary occurred in rural Bates County. During the investigation Bates County Detective’s identified the suspects as one white male John F Manco DOB from Harrisonville Mo, and one white female Destine May Long DOB 12-18-1992 from Adrian Mo. A warrant was issued for both suspects for Burglary -2nd degree with a bond set at $12,000.00 Cash or Surety.

A burglary occurred in the city limits of Adrian on 08-27-2014. Adrian Police Department and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office investigated this case jointly. During the investigation law enforcement identified the suspect’s as the two individuals list above.

A second warrant was issued for the above mentioned suspects for Burglary -2nd degree with a bond set at $20,000.00 Cash or Surety.


Both subjects were arrested on 09-04-2014.

Steven Edward Spencer, Osceola, Mo. and formerly El Dorado Springs, passed away Saturday evening, September 6, at his home, He was 69. Arrangements are under direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, and services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m.Thursday, September 11, at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Mt.
