BATES COUNTY, Mo – Try outs for the West Central Warriors semi-pro football team will be held this Saturday and Sunday, December 13th and 14th at 2pm at the Rotary Field south of the Butler Swimming Pool.
The cost to try out is $25. Bring cleats if you have them.

Margaret J. Cook, 91 of Butler, Missouri passed away December 9, 2014 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Butler with Fr. Thomas Hermes as Celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:30 – 7 PM at Mullinax Funeral Home (660-679-0009) in Butler, where the Rosary will begin at 7 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montrose, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, National MS Society, or Adrian Manor activity fund. Margaret J. (Munsterman) Cook was born November 12, 1923 in Montrose, Missouri to Joseph and Barbara Munsterman. She married Donald Cook on January 7, 1947, and to this union seven children were born.
Margaret worked three years selling Amway. She was a seamstress for over five years and would often take on many sewing projects long past those five years. She worked 19 years part-time at the Butler Grade School cafeteria. She was a full-time wife and mother aside from all those occupations.
Margaret had many interests and hobbies. She pieced quilts, gardened, often canning over 500 quarts a season. She loved to make baked goods not only for family, but also to give to friends and acquaintances. She loved to play cards with family and friends, drink coffee and socialize with friends. She also liked to read for pleasure, and she prayed daily for well over an hour. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and an active member for many years in the Women’s Altar Society, where she served as president for two years. She organized and managed many social events and activities for the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Barbara Munsterman, her loving husband Donald Cook, and a grandson, Donald Cook. She leaves her three sons, Ronald Cook of Chilhowie, Missouri; Earl Cook and wife Tommy of Concordia, Missouri; and Kenneth Cook and wife Sheree of Adrian, Missouri; four daughters, Carol Hartline and husband Terry of Lamar, Missouri; Elaine Schraml and husband Wayne of Harrisonville, Missouri; Diane Taranto and husband Joe of Belton, Missouri; and Charlene Blacksher and husband Todd of Springfield, Missouri; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.

Paul Robert Bob Stainbrook, age 71, Olathe, Kansas passed away on Friday, December 5, 2014. He was born on August 21, 1943 in McCook, Nebraska the son of Paul and Mildred Stainbrook. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and attended Emporia State University. During his working career, he was involved in the banking and real estate industries in Johnson County. After his retirement, he was devoted to the care of his mother, who preceded him in death in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his father. In addition to providing care for his mother, Bob pursued his passions for upland game hunting and fishing. He is survived by two sons, Brian Stainbrook and Mark Stainbrook wife Dania, a daughter Deanna Pittman husband Dirk, two sisters, Betty Stainbrook and Marilyn Triebel husband Ralph, and six grandsons: Grant, Kyle and Reid Stainbrook, Jackson, Kaleb and Landon Pittman.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until service time. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.

Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Patricia Ann Watson, 77, of Wadsworth, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born July 1, 1937, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Wilbert Earl and Ethel Henderson. Her family was her pride and joy. She loved her family and friends. To know Patricia was to know she had a special calling to make people smile and laugh.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 59 years, Kenneth D. Watson; daughters, Tonja (Rod) Caldwell of Wadsworth and Tammy (Denny) Appleberry of Butler, Mo.; along with grandchildren, Amy (Blake) Hertzberg, Chase (Krystal) Caldwell, Adam (Holly) Appleberry, Cayla (Nate) Troyer and Cyler Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Paige, Parker Hertzberg and Kailynn, Karsen Caldwell; sister, Kaye (Leonard) Jordan; two aunts, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Patricia was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbert Earl Henderson Jr., Delbert Henderson and sister, Mary Jane Cottrill.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina, 5075 Windfall Rd., Medina, OH 44256 or a Hospice in your community.
Hume News December 8, 2014
The community of Hume wishes to extend their sympathy to the family of Herschel Vail. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in there time of need.
We also wish to extend our sympathy to Melanie Byrd and family on the loss of her father. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
There will be an All School Christmas Concert on December 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hume School.
The Wolf Pack Club Scouts #4012 met on Monday, December 8 and made cookie plates and distributed them. Those who were able to make the meeting were; Lane Irwin, Joseph Dale, Nate Harris, Jesse Cox and Wyatt Brooks. We missed the ones who were unable to attend.
The Cub Scout pack under the direction of Melanie Byrd met a couple of weeks ago and started putting up Christmas lights in the park. They enjoyed pizza afterwards.
Jean Zinn enjoyed a visit from her two daughters, Karen and Kathy from Illinois this past weekend. They enjoyed a full weekend of visiting with family members.
Santa Claus is coming to town on Saturday, December 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a treat for all. Just stop by the Legion Hall in Hume and tell Santa what is on your wish list for Christmas.
Butler wrestling @ Knob Noster tournament- 12-6-14
On Saturday, Dec 6, the Butler Bears varsity wrestling team travelled to the Ray Stockdale Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Knob Noster, Missouri. The Bears took 6 wrestlers to the tournament, bringing home 4 medals. Overall team placements were as follows:
