Obituary - Donna Lee McWilliams

Memorial services for Donna McWilliams will be 4 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 3-4 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Contributions to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 

Donna Lee McWilliams, age 75 of Belton, Missouri, formerly of Amsterdam, Missouri died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Medicalodge in Butler. She was born July 1, 1939 to Clifford Micheal and Thelma Rose McFarland Leister in Salina, Kansas.

Donna is survived by two daughters, Mechel Sitler and husband Robert of Peculiar, Missouri and Larnel Lantsberger of Raytown, Missouri; two sisters, Linda Case and husband Larry of Amsterdam, Missouri and Susan Harris and husband Clinton of Gladstone, Missouri; six grandchildren, Uriah, Justin, Chad, Brianna, Brice and Katey; seven great-grandchildren, Tamiah, Uriah Jr., Mariah, Noah, Hayden, Chase and Eli. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Rechel; and one brother, Mike Leister.

Obituary - Norma Elizabeth Dodson

Norma Elizabeth Dodson, 79, Drexel, Missouri, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri with visitation from 11:00-12:00. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery in Drexel.

AMY HELLER
AMY HELLER is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for  February, 2015. Amy has been employed at BCMH since 2009 as a Licensed Practical Nurse on the night shift. 

She is hard working and easy going, even when the work load keeps going
up, she easily adapts and accepts new assignments. Amy has a positive attitude - smiling and fun to work with. She is polite and respectful to patients. 

Amy is working to better herself by earning her RN degree. She asks for input from co-workers and works well with each member of the team. 

The hospital is proud to have Amy on its' healthcare team.

Obituary - Waneta M. Schallert

The Funeral for Mrs. Schallert will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.

Officiant will be Father Thomas Hermes.


VISITATION/ROSARY will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, February 6, 2015. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Rosary: 9:00 a.m.

INTERMENT will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montrose, Missouri.

The family suggests that MEMORIAL contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Waneta Maxine (Foster) Schallert, daughter of John M. and Susie B. (Leeper) Foster was born March 8, 1928 in Appleton City, Missouri. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri at the age of 86.

Waneta lived in and around Appleton City and Montrose area all her life. She graduated from Appleton City High School in 1946.

Waneta started working at the Ted Conrad Agency as a bookkeeper, typist and receptionist. She left that employment in 1960. She was then employed by MFA starting out as bookkeeper and rising to manager.

Waneta and her husband, George W. Radford, whom she married in 1947, farmed in the Johnson City community from 1960 to 1967. She loved gardening, especially flowers and always took a special interest in caring for them. She also enjoyed sewing, painting and loved to read, especially westerns.

Waneta was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri. On May 22 1980, Waneta was united in marriage to Cletus A. “Clip” Schallert at that church. After her marriage to “Clip”, she became a homemaker.

Waneta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, “Clip”; brother, Dean Foster and his wife Joyce of Appleton City.

Waneta is survived by her two sons: Dennis G. Radford and wife Linda of Montrose, Missouri and Ronald W. Radford and wife Shauna of Nevada, Missouri; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Obituary - Kyle Jacob Smidt

Kyle Jacob Smidt, 24 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, formerly of Warrensburg passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. 

Kyle was born May 26, 1990 in Warrensburg. He grew up in Warrensburg and graduated from Warrensburg High School in 2008. He attended lineman school at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City for two years. After graduation, Kyle worked in the flooring business with his brothers and father. He was an avid Kansas Jayhawks fan as well as a devoted follower of the Royals and Chiefs. His hobbies included fishing and video games, but he especially enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews.

He leaves behind the love of his life, fiancĂ©: Samantha Born and their dog, Zoey; mother and stepfather: Kandi and Ronald Catts of Warrensburg, MO; father: Michael Smidt of Warrensburg, MO; three brothers and sister-in-laws: Ryan and Andrea Smidt of Lee’s Summit, MO; Andrew and Melissa Smidt of Knob Noster, MO and Dane and Sarah Smidt of Warrensburg, MO; stepbrother and step sister-in-law: Adam and Brittany Catts of Sedalia, MO; maternal grandmother and step grandfather: Frieda and Harry Bryson of Holden, MO; his most beloved nieces and nephews: Tucker, Cole, Jessica, Ava & Jason Smidt and Ashley Fisher; his fiancĂ©, Samantha’s parents: Greg and Cindy Born of Warrensburg, MO; and Samantha’s brother: Zach Born of Ft. Riley, KS. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Kenneth Ross and paternal grandmother, Christine Whiteman.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7th at First Baptist Church in Warrensburg with Pastor Bob Alexander of Old Paths Baptist Church in Independence officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Johnson County Cancer Foundation in care of the funeral chapel.

1 vehicle rollover accident West of Rich Hill

The Rich Hill Fire Department with Mutual assistance from the Butler Fire Department is in route to a 1 vehicle rollover accident on A Highway at DD Highway West of Rich Hill.
