St. Clair County Sheriffs Office: Kansas City woman arrested

On March 7, Demeka Porter, 33, Kansas City, was arrested at the St. Clair County Jail on a Jackson County warrant for a probation violation on an original misdemeanor charge of passing a bad check. Bond is set at $2,000 with 10-percent cash only. The warrant was issued Dec. 15, 2014

Obituary - Thomas Murray

Thomas Murray, of Hume, passed away on Saturday, March 7th at Prescott Country View Nursing Home in Prescott, Kansas. He was 92. 

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 10th at Heuser Funeral Home, with burial in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Rich Hill.

Obituary - Linda Stadler

Linda Stadler, formerly of Rich Hill, passed away on Friday, March 6th at K.U. Medical Center. She was 65. Arrangements are under the direction of Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill. A graveside service is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 11th at the Green Lawn Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Heuser Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to the Linda Stadler Memorial Fund are suggest, in care of Heuser Funeral Home.

Missing dog South of Lacygne Power Plant

Missing yellow female lab, about a year old. She should have on a pink striped collar with tags. Her name is Frankie.

She was last seen on Monday March 2nd about 3 miles south of the la cygne power plant.

Obituary - Orlan Francis Schultz


Orlan Francis Schultz of Frisco, Texas passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015. Cremation, with graveside memorial services announced at a later time. Messages of condolence for the family may be left athttp://www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Mr. Schultz is survived by a son, Frank Schultz and wife Janelle Clark Schultz, grandson Neal (Johanne) Schultz, and great-grandson Austin Schultz, all of Frisco.

Vernon County Sheriffs Office: Man arrested after forcing his way into a residence

Two warrants containing multiple charges were issued Friday afternoon for a Vernon County resident after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call Thursday afternoon just south of Nevada. 

Gail G Stafford, 36 of Nevada has been charged with felony charges of 1st degree burglary, and, resisting arrest, as well as two misdemeanor charges of domestic assault, and property damage. According to reports, Stafford allegedly forced his way into a residence during a dispute and after being made to leave the residence by occupants inside, Stafford tried again to break in through a window. 

During the incident dispatch lost communication with the deputy that had responded and two additional deputies were dispatched to the scene for back-up. Stafford tried to resist arrest when the deputy told him he was going to jail. Stafford is being held in the Vernon County Jail on bonds totaling $16,000 cash or surety.
