About Designated Storm Shelters in our area
A potentially serious issue...
There are places in Butler that are designated as storm shelters- but at this time, it cannot be insured that the facility will be unlocked/available when it's truly needed.
While our community greatly appreciates local churches and businesses volunteering to make their basements available when possible, we believe it could be tragic if a person went there only to find it locked.
We feel that since there is a potential for great danger to the public due to this, we will not be posting a list of local shelters at this time. However, steps are being taken to correct this issue and we'll update you as soon as we know more.
So what can you do? Make a contingency plan NOW- talk to neighbors, fellow church members and friends about where you might go in the event of severe weather. When time is critical, knowing where you can safely go in advance is worth it's weight in gold.
