Memorial Service now set for Mike Thomas

Mike Thomas of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, May 30, 2015 at his home. Mike was born September 8, 1955 in Joplin, Missouri to William Harold and Norma Claudine Lee Thomas.

Mike is survived by two sons, Tyler Thomas and Michael Thomas Jr both of Butler, Missouri; a daughter, Latisha Thomas of Fulton, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Pam Thomas.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Thomas will be Sunday June 21,2015 at The Alley Pick N Pub Bar behind the Square in Butler Mo. The Memorial Service will start at 3pm.

Garden City Police Department: Medical call this morning

Around 09:50 a.m. this morning, Officer Brad Wright of the Garden City Police Department responded to 7 Hwy & Chandler Road in response to a medical emergency. Officer Wright found a woman who was traveling through the area with her family having a cardiac emergency with no pulse or breathing.

Officer Wright administered CPR until Garden City EMS arrived a few minutes later. Officer Wright, Garden City Fire-EMS Chief Lopez, Medic Melissa Jones, and Firefighter/Medic Issac Wilson continued CPR reestablishing a heartbeat.

The woman was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center. The Garden City Police Department had completed their annual First Aid / CPR refresher course at the Garden City Fire Department in April.

Wild Horse Races at Butler Saddle Club Rodeo

BUTLER, Mo - The Butler Saddle Club’s Rodeo will be hitting the arena on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, June 19th, 20th and 21st.

Each evening opens with the wild horse race beginning 8pm. There will only be 4 teams each night and contestants must compete 2 separate nights to be eligible to win a buckle.

The wild horse races are on a first come, first serve basis each night.

REMINDER: Giving Fore Living Golf Tournament This Weekend

The 3rd annual Darin Wainscott Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 13th and 14th at the Butler Country Club and space is still available if you haven’t signed up your team yet.

The cost is $400 per team for the 4-person scramble and the cost will include a commemorative shirt.

One flight on Saturday beginning at 9am and Sunday will feature two flights at 7am and one at 1:30pm. Cash prizes will include 1st place, 2nd and 3rd place. Prizes will also be given to the closest to the pin, longest drive and the longest putt.

Four Rivers Conservation Area Receives Public Input

The Open House for public input regarding the Four Rivers Conservation Area was well attended June 9, 2015. The public was invited to provide comments regarding a future 10-year management plan for the area. 

Taking part in the conversation were (l to r) Bates County Conservation Agent, Don Tiller, State Representative Patricia Pike, and Vernon County Conservation Agents Shawn Pennington and Justin Fogle. The online comment period closes June 15 and and can be accessed at www.mdc.mo.gov/areaplans .

Harrisonville woman arrested in Garden City

Around 7:00 p.m. last night 6/9/15 The Garden City Police Department was dispatched to a fight in progress call.

The location of this fight call was in the 300 block of Gum Street. 

A unknown female from Harrisonville, Missouri was arrested for assault.
