Shahanna Lee West, age 42, of Nevada, MO passed away December 21, 2015 at the Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born June 13, 1973 in Riverside, CA, the daughter of Bennie Carl Barnett and Linda Helen (Kiger). In September 2007 she was united in marriage to Jimmie Lee West and he survives of Rich Hill.
At the age of three, Shahanna, along with family moved to Metz, MO. She attended school in Metz, Rich Hill, and Nevada. She also attended the Vocational Nursing Program in Nevada. She worked for a time as a nurse’s aide. In her spare time she enjoyed sightseeing, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at dinners and barbeques.
Survivors in addition to her husband Jimmie include her mother, Linda Mulkins of Metz; father, Bennie Barnett of Romolan, CA; brothers Brian Barnett, Dan Barnett, Allen Mulkins, and Joey Mulkins all of Metz; step-son, Spencer; several nieces and nephews; and a very special double-cousin, Crystal Barnett. Shahanna was preceded in death by her step-father, Morris Mulkins, and her grandparents.
No services are planned at this time.

On 12/20/15 around 9:46 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County arrested 25 year old Devin L. Shepard of Harrisonville, Missouri.
Mr. Shepard was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Possession of Marijuana up to 35 grams 3.) Careless and Imprudent Driving causing a crash 4.) No Seatbelt 5.) Possession of drug paraphernalia 6.) Failure to display valid plates.
He was placed under arrest but was released to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri to receive treatment for his injuries from the accident.

On 12/20/15 around 2:20 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident 3 miles South of Lowry City on County Road NE 551 in rural St. Clair County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 46 year old Richard D. Davis of Lowry City, Missouri was Southbound on NE 551 when he ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and ran off the left side of the roadway before striking a tree and overturning.
Mr. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and his body was transported to Sheldon Funeral Home in Osceola, Missouri.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Bray's Towing of Osceola, Missouri. This is Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 122nd Fatality accident of 2015.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriffs Office responded to a 1 vehicle rollover accident around 9:20 pm on Southbound I-49 at mile marker 165 in Cass County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2003 Honda driven by 25 year old Devin L. Shepard of Harrisonville, Missouri traveled off the roadway overcorrected, the vehicle then crossed the highway and overturned several times ejecting the driver.
Devin Shepard sustained serious injuries in this accident and was transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson's Tow.

Mildred Perkins, age 101, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2015 at the Louisburg Health and Rehab. She was born on October 10, 1914 the daughter of William and Noma Gilmore Umphenour. She worked in house keeping at the Olathe Hospital before retiring. She was married to James Perkins who preceded her in death in August of 1970. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Naoma Morrison, a grand daughter, Sherry, two brothers, Lee and Eugene Umphenour, and three sisters, Ella Holsman, Margie Black, and Betty Johnson. Mildred was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, La Cygne Christian Church and the Star Valley Club. She is survived by a son Chuck Perkins and wife Pam, two daughters, Pat Berglund and husband Dave, and Janet Cook and husband, Martin, nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and thirteen great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to service time at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Thayer Park or La Cygne Sr. Citizens. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.

Diane Elaine Pettis age 54 of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Friday, December 18, 2015 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
Diane is survived by her husband Wayne E. Pettis of the home; two sons, Casey Morris of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Joshua Lockhart and his wife Amanda of Lee's Summit, Missouri; two step-daughters, Cassy Wilson of Whiteman AFB, and Peggy Cannon of Peculiar, Missouri; her father, James Lee of Fontana, Kansas; a step-father, John Kern of Drexel, Missouri; a sister, Carolyn Keesee of Pittsburg, Missouri; two brothers, Larry Lee of Rogers, Arkansas, and Sam Lee of Kidder, Missouri; a half brother and a half sister; ten step-sisters and brothers; three grandchildren, Johnny, Bayliegh, and Brenden; other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Cremation.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

John M. Atkinson, 85, Nevada, MO passed away on December 18, 2015 at The Gardens at Barry Road in Kansas City, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
