Bates County Conservation Agent, Don Tiller Honored in Jeff City Missouri

Bates County Conservation Agent, Don Tiller, was honored in the Missouri House of Representatives, April 25, 2016. State Representative, Patricia Pike, introduced Agent Tiller on the House Floor and presented him with a House Resolution recognizing his selection as Missouri Department of Conservation’s 2016 Outstanding Missouri Conservation Agent.

On July 1, 2016, Don Tiller will celebrate twenty-nine years of being a Missouri Conservation Agent in Bates County. Representative Pike commented, "Agent Tiller has been a dedicated Agent through the years. He has been active in resource law enforcement, conservation preservation, and working with youth and fair programs, to name just a few of his activities. It was an honor to recognize him for this very special distinction."

Drug take back in Bates County

On Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Bates County Health Center in cooperation with Butler Police Department and the DEA will give the public an opportunity to dispose of their unused or expired medication for safe disposal.

The TakeBack location is at Bates County Health Center at 501 N. Orange in Butler using the back door on the NE corner of the building.

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue that we are pleased to be a part of for our community.



Semi truck fire early this morning at Butler Walmart

Around 5:15 am this morning the Butler Fire Department was called to the North entrance of Walmart Parking lot in Butler on a semi truck fire.

No one was injured in this fire and the truck was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived on scene.

Several reports of power outages at this time in the city of Butler

The City of Butler Electric Crews are currently attempting to restore power to several customers without after the storm this evening.

The storm has affected both Butler Police Department and Bates County Sheriffs Office communications centers (which currently are both back up and running at this time) and the Bates County Memorial Hospital is currently running on back up generators.

Please be patient as crews are working hard to restore your power.


Tornado spotted in northern Bates county

There have been two unconfirmed reports of a tornado spotted first near Amsterdam and then again just south of Archie. Adrian fire department has activated storm sirens at this time.

According to information just received, it is thought the tornado might be moving NE towards Garden City.

Lucas Daniel Owen, age 25, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 as the result of an automobile accident in Vernon County, Missouri .

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.


Medicalodges Annual Easter Egg Hunt This Saturday March 26th

Medicalodges of Butler will host the Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday March 26th at 1:00 pm. It’s for Children ages birth to 10 years old. Children will be divided into separate age groups and will go at different times. Prizes will be given to all participants.

Refreshments will be served after the hunt to include free cotton candy!
