Clinton man arrested in Henry County

On 7/9/17 around 2:27am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County arrested 25 year old Keith I. Downey of Clinton, Missouri.

Mr. Downey was arrested for 1.) Misdemenor Henry County Warrant.

He was booked into the Henry County Jail and placed on a $1,000 cash/surety bond.

Creighton man seriously injured in Henry County dirt bike crash

On 7/8/16 around 10:45pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with Garden City EMS responded to a motorcycle crash around 819 NW 1651 Road in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the Kawasaki 220 dirt bike driven by 33 year old Frederick W. Higginbotham of Creighton, Missouri failed to negotiate the terrain and ejecting the driver. 

Mr. Higginbotham sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

The bike received minor damage and was secured and left at the scene of the accident.

Obituary - Charles W. Millam



Charles W. Millam
Charles W. Millam, 91, of Clinton, Missouri died Thursday morning, July 7, 2016 at his home. Among survivors are two sons, Ron Millam and Dennis Millam; and two daughters, Paula A. Henry and Carolyn K. Benson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., just prior to the service. Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. 

The family suggests memorial contributions to Twin Lakes Hospice, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

A big THANK YOU from the Butler Police Department

Obituary - Billy Gean Barnard

Billy Gean Barnard, 77, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, July 8, 2016 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12 at the Atkinson Funeral Home.

Billy was born July 21, 1938 in Cass County, Missouri, the son of Clyde Velmer and Kate Christina (Eifert) Barnard, Sr. He worked as an auto mechanic for Busy Bee Salvage in Harrisonville for 45 years before retiring. He enjoyed tinkering with all types of machinery and was an avid collector of everything.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clyde V. Barnard, Jr. and Robert Lee Barnard and Robert’s wife, Ruth Ann Barnard; three sisters, Dorothy Barnard, Betty Huggins, Kathryn Barnard, and a sister-in-law, Mickie Barnard. 


He is survived by two brothers, Ira C. Barnard and his wife, Lavonne, Adrian, Missouri, and James W. Barnard, Sr., El Dorado Springs, Missouri; one sister, Rose McAllister, Harrisonville, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.




Deepwater man arrested in St. Clair County

On July 5, Michael Taylor, 27, Deepwater, was arrested in Lowry City on a St. Clair County warrant for failing to appear in court on a class C felony charge of domestic assault-second degree and class D felony resisting arrest by fleeing. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only. 

The charges stem from a Lowry City Police Department investigation on April 24. 

Taylor was also arrested on a Clinton Police Department warrant for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge. Bond on that charge is $500 cash only.


Appleton City man arrested in St. Clair County

Zachary Dewey
On July 7, Zachary Dewey, 27, Appleton City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class C felony burglary-second degree. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

The charge stems from an investigation on May 18 when a St. Clair County deputy took a report from Richard Foster in reference to a burglary at the Appleton City storage units located at the corner of Third and Popular. Foster reported several items missing including a black, refinished trunk containing dishes, photo albums, knives, watches, and the ashes of his deceased family member. 


During the investigation several items identified as taken from the storage unit were located at Dewey’s former residence on West Second Street, Appleton City, and at his new residence on West Hightower Street, El Dorado Springs.
