Updated Obituary - Alecia Rochelle Johnson

Alecia Rochelle Johnson
Alecia Rochelle Johnson, 22 of Olathe, Kansas passed away July 7, 2016 at her home in Olathe. A visitation will be held Friday July 15, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at the Mullinax Funeral Home in Butler, Missouri (660-679-0009). 

Funeral services will follow at 1:30 pm also at the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to Epilepsy Foundation or Children’s Mercy Hospital. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com 


Alecia was born September 7, 1993 in Clinton, Missouri to Richard and Lori Mayfield Johnson. She attended school in Butler, Missouri and graduated from Ruskin High School, Kansas City, Missouri in 2012. She worked for many years for Sonic and part-time for Genesis Property Management. Alecia was an avid fan of the Missouri Tigers, Kansas City Royals and the New England Patriots. She had a deep love for her family, putting each of them before herself. Alecia touched the lives of many people, making friends wherever she went. She will always be remembered for her kind words, warm presence, and cheerful smile. 

Alecia was preceded in death by her brother Zachary Johnson, grandmothers, Mary Hollingshead and Sue Howard, and great-grandma “Fergie”. 

She is survived by her father Richard Johnson and Mother Lori Mayfield Johnson both of Kansas City, MO, by her boyfriend Eddie Thompson, Jr. of the home, siblings, Amber, Zenas, Brittany, Cody, Aiden, Bailey, Keegan, Kordell, Shane, Joshua, and, Lexi, grandpa Larry Mayfield of Butler, MO, and an aunt Elizabeth Mayfield Clark of Kansas City, MO, along with three nephews, one niece, and various extended family members and friends.

Rich Hill Craft and Farmer's Market‏

Tuesday July 12th is the next market. It will be at the East Park behind Swopes. 

Looking for vendors to participate ESPECIALLY produce vendors. 

If you have fresh fruits and vegetables from your garden that you cannot use, please come sell them. Lots of folks wanting to buy. 

Cost is $3 a space. You must bring your own table and chairs. There are bathrooms in this park and is pretty well shaded.
Always accepting crafters as long as your crafts is hand made.

Bates County Nostalgia Band playing tonight

The Nostalgia Band will be playing tonight at South Park in Butler starting at 7:00 pm. 

The concert will be at the main shelter house. They will also have ice cream for sale to help keep you cool.

Log Cabin Day at Poplar Heights Farm

Bates County Fair Superteen Contest

Calling all 4-H and FFA EXHIBITORS and Friends, Join the fun Tuesday July 12 at 8pm for SUPERTEEN Contest at the BATES COUNTY FAIR!!!  THERE IS CASH PRIZES FOR THE TOP 3 TEAMS and all will receive a T-Shirt!! Teams must be made up of 2 boys & 2 girls and 1 must be and Exhibitor at the 2016 Bate Co Fair. Superteen will test your strength, speed, and teamwork abilities!!  Will start preregistration of teams and hand out T-Shirts after the parade, in the rodeo arena with Kyleigh Trickey.  Any questions contact her at 660-464-2749. Obituary - Scotty Wayne Frazier

Scotty Wayne Frazier, 44, passed away at his home in Nevada, MO on Sunday, July 10, 2016. Scotty was born on December 5, 1971 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Doyle Wayne and Jewel Gay (Pennington) Frazier. He married Edna Virginia Thompson on July 4, 2006 and she survives of the home.

Scotty worked for the Poplar Bluff School District. He enjoyed mechanics, fishing, metal scrapping and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; his father and mother of Nevada; four children, Scotty Frazier, Jr. of the home, Tiffany Ann Frazier, Campbell, MO, Victoria Lynn Frazier, Wynona, MO, and Chelsea Marie Frazier, Geneva, GA; two sisters, Christina Hood (Tim), Nevada, and Teresa Ann Frazier, Poplar Bluff; and one brother, Raymond Frazier, Nevada.

Public's assistance needed in locating burglary suspects in rural Butler

On 07/08/2016 Deputies at the Bates County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential burglary in the rural Butler area in Northeast Bates County. 

The victims reported that they observed a Silver in color 4 door sedan with a Missouri license plate beginning with “F” leaving the area. 

The victims described the occupants of the vehicle to be a black male with a full beard and a white female with dark hair in a ponytail, wearing a tank top and had tattoos on her arms. The victims stated the vehicle and the subjects were not familiar to the area. 

The victims stated approximately $23,000-$24,000 in jewelry was stolen during the burglary. Some of the items taken include: an 18 karat white gold wedding ring with a 1.08 carat diamond, yellow gold men’s wedding band, and a jewelry box with other miscellaneous jewelry, a men’s watch and the victim’s purse.
