Obituary - Michelle R. Simmons

Michelle R. Simmons, age 49 years, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at her home in Clinton, Missouri. Michelle's wishes were to be cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Michelle was born July 23, 1967 in Clinton, Missouri the daughter of Robert and Joyce (Witherspoon) Land. She worked at Schreiber Foods in Clinton. 

Survivors include her companion, Lewis Elliott of the home, her mother, Joyce Raney, and 4 children; Anthony Greer, Eli Greer, Isaac Greer, and Stevie Blevins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.

Police searching for stolen vehicle from Clinton restaurant

The Henry County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a stolen gray in color Nissan truck with a red front end and yellow light bar on top.

We are unsure at this time of the licenses plate number on this stolen truck.

The vehicle was stolen this morning from the Hardees Restaurant located at 1616 E Ohio St, Clinton, Missouri.

Cleveland man arrested in Cass County

On 8/9/16 around 9:26am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County arrested 22 year old Taylor A. Ayers of Cleveland, Missouri.

Mr. Ayers was arrested for 1.) Felony Possession of a controlled substance - Prescription Pain Medication 2.) Felony Possession of a controlled substance - Marijuana 3.) Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia 4.) Speeding.

He was booked into the Cass County Jail and later bonded out.

Clinton man arrested on possession charge

Andrew J. Mullen
On 8/9/16 around 9:34am the Clinton Police Department arrested 32 year old Andrew J. Mullen of Clinton, Missouri.

Mr. Mullen was arrested for 1.) Possession of a Controlled Substance 2.) Driving While Revoked - 3rd or Subsequent Offense.

He was booked into the Henry County Jail and placed on $15,000 cash/surety bond.

Marijane (Holz) Ward, 70, of rural Clinton, Missouri died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born January 1, 1946 in Jefferson, Iowa, the daughter of Russell Shilling Holz and Jeannette Marie (Burk) Holz

Marijane married Gregg D. Ward. He preceded her in death in April of 2002.

She was employed as a technology instructor with the Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lee's Summit, Mo. Marijane received her Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri , Columbia, Mo. She was the proprietor of Winning Colors, LLC, dealing in thoroughbred handicapping. She assisted her significant other Paul Alpers with the Crappie Masters fishing tournaments.

Surviving are one son, Paul Russell Millard and wife Tonya Lynn (Rush), Lee's Summit, Mo.; her mother, Jeannette Marie Holz, Kansas City, Mo.; significant other, Paul Alpers of the home; two sisters, Marjory Jeanne Angevine and husband Kirk, St. Louis, Mo., and Lisa Marie Wasowicz and husband Joe, Moberly, Mo.; three step-daughters, Amber Dawn Sprang and husband Ron, Fort Polk, Louisiana, Corina Lyn Marie Willard, Neosho, Mo., and Cassandra Lea Robinson and husband Kasey, Leavenworth, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Ryan Millard, Alex Millard, Jon Millard, Alyssa Millard, Lilli Sprang, Dieneka Sprang, Margaret Sprang, Judah Robinson, Genesis Robinson, and Jett Robinson; three nephews, Michael Wasowicz, Joplin, Mo., Matthew Wasowicz, Kansas City, Mo., and Daniel Hooks, Lee's Summit, Mo.; and one niece, Shanna Laseur, Kansas City, Mo

In addition to her husband Gregg, she was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Graveside services and interment will be at 3:00 p.m., in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Neosho, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

Butler woman arrested on Forgery charges in Vernon County

On Tuesday 8/9/16 the Vernon County Sheriff's Office arrested 22 year old Melanie R. Foley of Butler, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Class C Felony Forgery Warrant.

Melanie R. Foley was booked into the Vernon County Jail and is awaiting arraignment on the charge which is set for August 17th in Vernon County Associate Circuit Court.

A Butler woman was booked at the VErnon County Jail on a felony forgery warrant.

22-year-old Melanie R. Foley was booke dTuesday at the Couunty Jail on the warrant charging her with forgery, a class C felony. Accodring to court docket information, available online, the warrant for Foley's arrest was issued on May 26, and was executed Tuesday by Vernon County Sheriff's. Foley was initially arrested in April 2016 on the charge, and she is represented by public defender Warren Reiter.

An arraignment on the charge has been set for August 17 at 9:00 a.m. in front of Judge Neal Quitno in Vernon County Associate Circuit Court.

Esther Mae Irwin, age 87 of Hume, Missouri died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at St. Luke's East in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She was born June 12, 1929 to Jim and Velie Bowen in Nevada, Missouri.

Esther is survived by five sons, Keith Clinton Irwin and wife Linda of Hume, Missouri, Braxton Eldon Irwin and wife Harriett of Balch Springs, Texas, Mark Wayne Irwin, Everett Ogden Irwin and wife Karen and Terry Lynn Irwin all of Hume, Missouri; two daughters, Roberlie Rene` Morales of Hume, Missouri and Tina Marise Conner of Lind, Washington; one brother, Kenneth Bowen and wife Renata of Independence, Missouri; two sisters, Ellen Yuck and Doris Whalan both of Nevada, Missouri; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt Clinton "Doc" Irwin in 2010; three brothers, John, Gene and Jerome Bowin; and a sister, Lucille Johnston.
