On 8/17/16 around 5:40pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle accident were the driver was assaulted by a unknown driver who fled the scene.
The accident occurred on Southbound I-49 around 155th Street when the 2009 Western Star Semi driven by 68 year old Robert L. Becker of Harrisonville, Missouri was attempting to change lanes when it struck the drivers side of a unknown black SUV.
The driver of SUV got out of his vehicle and assaulted Mr. Becker before returning to his vehicle and fleeing from the scene before police could arrive.
Mr. Becker sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by South Metro Fire to Cass Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Motorcycle crash in Vernon County injures Milo man
On 8/17/16 around 8:00pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County responded to a one vehicle motorcycle wreck on Yater Road about 3 miles NE of Sheldon, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1981 Yamaha YICS 500 driven by 55 year old Jesse E. Murray of Milo, Missouri struck a deer in the roadway.
Mr. Murray sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri for treatment.
The bike received extensive damages and was removed from the scene by relatives of the driver.

Obituary - Margie Emeline James Williams

She assisted her husband in his business and later worked twenty years for Mercy Hospital. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. Margie was very talented and her favorite pastimes included needlework, genealogy, baking, sewing and many arts and crafts. She enjoyed trying new recipes and assisted making a Williams Family Cookbook for all the children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Ramona Barger, of Eldorado Springs, Missouri, Marvin Williams and wife, Charlotte, of Ft. Scott, and Bonnie Cross, of Iola, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Meschke, Julie Mingus, David Williams, Brian Williams, Chris Page, Leah Priest-Giordano, Shawna Priest, Shanna Craft and James Cross and thirteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a niece Pamela Weaver and nephew, Pat Kelley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wimpy, a sister, Georgia Dobrovolny and sons-in-law, Larry Osborne and David Barger.
Priest Cinda Reynolds will conducted funeral services at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Cremation will follow with private family burial in the U. S. National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital and can be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main St., P. O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS. 66701.

Obituary - Delmar Ray Gilmore
Delmar Ray Gilmore, 85, Milo, MO passed from this life on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Delmar was born on October 11, 1930 to Ruben Andrew and Harriett Minerva (Fenton) Gilmore in Sandstone (Vernon County), MO. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Belle Alexander. They were united in marriage on December 17, 1955 in Nevada and together they raised seven children.
Delmar was born and raised in the Sandstone area. He attended Milo school and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1948. Delmar served in the United States Navy for 3 1/2 years during the Korean Conflict. During his time in the Navy he served on the USS Princeton Aircraft Carrier along with three brothers, George, Roy, and Harold all at the same time. He was decorated with National Defense Ribbon, the Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Ribbon, and the Navy Occupation Service Ribbon. Following his time in the service Delmar came back to Vernon County and began working as a TV antennae installer when televisions first came out. He later worked in trucking and route sales for Double Cola Bottling, and then Foremost Dairy for 24 years. Delmar loved to fish and hunt, enjoyed woodworking, being with his family, and his dog Skipper. He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Rebecca he is survives by two sons, Mark Gilmore and his wife Sandy, Nevada, and John Gilmore and his wife Tina, Milo; four daughters, Debra Gilmore of the home, Susann Page, Nevada, Mary Scotten and her husband David, Harwood, and Jennifer Ogle, Milo; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Gilmore, Nevada, and Dean Gilmore, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Gilmore; two brothers, Roy Gilmore and George Gilmore; three sisters, Ruby Cartwright, Ruth Langston, and Della Price; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and an infant sibling.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Pine Street Baptist Church in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
Those who wish may contribute to Moore-Few Care Center in c/o Nevada Regional Medical Center Foundation.
