Theft on the rise in Bates County

On 08-30-2016 Bates County Deputy responded to a burglary that had occurred earlier. The burglary occurred in the area of 9000 St. and CC highway. The following items were stolen from the residence: two large vases full of miscellaneous coins, Turquoise crucifix pendent with silver chain, birthstone baby’s necklace, men’s gold wedding ring, pearl ear ring studs, sterling homemade tiger eye ring, gold chain necklace with pear and small diamond, Miami class ring 1979 blue stone white gold, thin gold band, ceramic handmade bowl, men’s boiler maker watch, set of gold blue zirconia earrings with ring and necklace, dark blue and light blue glass pendent braided silver chain, fresh water pearl necklace with sterling Celtic with matching earrings, pearl leaf earrings, silver Capricorn constellation necklace, and silver ban necklace.
  • Theft occurred August 30th 2016 in the area of 3300 and SW CR 5500. Two small Anatolian and Great Pyrenes mix puppies. One puppy is black with white paws and the other is white.
  • Theft occurred August 30th 2016 in the area of 400 block of N 6th St Rich Hill. AC unit Goodman brand about six years old, tan and gray in color.

Bucksaw Beach to open at Truman Lake

WARSAW, Mo.- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Harry S. Truman Lake announce Bucksaw Beach will reopen Thursday, Sept. 1. 

The beach closed Friday, Aug. 26 due to elevated levels of E.coli bacteria, which could cause health risks.

Water samples conducted at Bucksaw Beach this week confirmed the levels of E. coli are now safe for swimming.

Obituary - William “Bud” McCleskey

William “Bud” McCleskey, 82, Peculiar, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Memorial services are pending at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.
