Funeral services for Bonnie Lee Burgess will be 2:00 pm Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday immediately prior to funeral services at the Schowengerdt Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Butler Public Library or House of Hound. Online condolences may be sent to www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Bonnie Lee Burgess, age 86 of Butler, Missouri died Friday, September 2, 2016 at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born December 15, 1929 to Jesse Nyle and Lida Mae Scofield.

Bonnie is survived by a daughter, Frances Jones of Richards, Missouri; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James "Buck" Burgess; son, James Burgess; and two brothers, Donald Ray Scofield and Charles Smith.

William “Paul” Perrin
William “Paul” Perrin, 73, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his home in Richards, MO following a lengthy illness. Paul was born on September 1, 1943 in Schell City, MO to James Elmer Perrin and Gertrude Mavis (DeHart) Perrin. He married Elizabeth Murphy on April 6, 1973 in Miami OK and she survives of the home.

Paul graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1961. He operated Perrin Construction Co. for over 35 years until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed traveling and going to Florida for the winters.

In addition to his wife Elizabeth he is survived by his children Linda Hays and her husband Gary, Parkville, MO, Mike Perrin and his wife Vicky, Nevada, and Paul Murphy and his wife Kerrie, Nevada; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one brother, Jim Perrin and his wife Peggy, and one sister, Rosemary Ryan and her husband Bob both of Nevada; two step-sisters, Peggy Butler and Jean Francis and her husband Glenn, both of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother David Perrin, and one step-sister Ida Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor Wayne Coble officiating. Interment will follow in Balltown Cemetery, Horton, MO. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the funeral home.

Those who wish may contribute in Paul’s memory to the Sheldon Methodist Church in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Police pursuit ends in Harrisonville

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County attempted to pull over a small Honda car which was described as gray in color with blue rims this afternoon on Northbound I-49.

The vehicle refused to pull over for the officer and a pursuit was initiated with assistance of the Cass County Sheriff's Department the pursuit was finally ended on Commercial Street in Harrisonville.

All of the  with all the suspects are custody and booked into the Cass County Jail.

ATV rollover accident in Cass County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies are in route to a ATV Rollover Accident.

The location of this accident is at 602 E. Pearl Street in East Lynne, Missouri. One person is said to have minor injuries in this accident

Storm Chances Increase Wednesday

A few weakening storms may affect northwest MO this morning, but otherwise, pleasant weather will continue until Wednesday as storm chances return.

Damage assessments continue following Oklahoma earthquake

PAWNEE, Okla. (AP) State, local and federal officials have resumed assessing damage in north-central Oklahoma after a magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck near Pawnee, just south of the Kansas state line.

Pawnee County Emergency Management Director Mark Randell said Sunday that emergency officials and the U.S. Geological Survey are examining the area and finding only minor to moderate damage.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation inspected roads and 180 bridges within a 30-mile radius of the epicenter and says all were found to be safe.

The state Corporation Commission says no major damage has been found by utilities, pipelines, or fuel infrastructure operators in the area and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is inspecting dams within a 50-mile radius of the epicenter. Gov. Mary Fallin has declared a state of emergency in Pawnee County.

One tasered after verbal disturbance in Butler

The Butler Police Department along with Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bates County EMS and Bates County Sheriffs Office are in the area of the 600 block of Rose Lane in Southeast Butler at this hour. 

The only information we know at this time is the call was a verbal disturbance in progress and one white male subject has been tasered by a officer.

The subject who is identified as Kenneth L. Baxter (DOB 09/19/1972) was struck in the back of the leg and he is currently in at the Bates County Memorial Hospital seeking treatment.  

Mr. Baxter has been placed into custody at this time and is wanted out of Benton and Bates County.
