Obituary - Janice Cummings Vaughn

Born at home into a poor farming family in Butler, Missouri, in 1939, Janice was raised with the strong ethical values of hardworking Midwestern people: honesty, thrift, and dependability.
A treasured wife, mother, and grandmother, Janice lives on in our hearts for the rest of our days and eternally with her precious Savior, Jesus.
Three themes wove themselves throughout Janice's life faith, family, and friends. These were the things she held most dear and were always her top priority.
Janice is survived by her husband, Dr. Gary Vaughn, of Beaumont; daughter, Kelly Vaughn Niles and her husband, Tony, of Houston; son, Matt Edward Vaughn, and his wife, Samantha, of Springfield, Missouri; and grandchildren, Reagan Niles, Rory Niles, Rusten Niles, Wyatt Vaughn, and Madilyn Vaughn.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Allen “Butch” Cummings.
A memorial service is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Mo., with a reception to follow.

"At first, I was thinking somebody had, like, littered, and there was plastic in the water," she said. "And then we noticed that there was a couple, and we were like, well, what is that?"
It turned out to be a freshwater jellyfish. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, freshwater jellyfish are found in 44 states, including the parts of Missouri along the Missouri River and the Lake of the Ozarks. Unlike their saltwater cousins, freshwater jellyfish pose no threat to humans.
The freshwater jellyfish is native to China. Researchers believe it was first brought to North America and Europe along with water hyacinth plants in the 1880s. The freshwater jellyfish mainly eats zooplankton, but scientists think it occasionally feeds on fish eggs. The crayfish is the freshwater jellyfish's only known important predator.
Taylor's father, Brian, said he had never seen a freshwater jellyfish in more than 30 years living at the lake. When Taylor first told him about her discovery, he thought she was playing a prank on him.
"I didn't realize there was such as thing as a freshwater jellyfish," he said.
The Kelleys saw a total of four jellyfish on Sunday and caught three of them. They later released them back into the lake. Taylor's best friend, Mya Margetts, said she used to see jellyfish at the beach when she lived in California. She said she was surprised to see them living in freshwater.
The Kelleys say they will look for more freshwater jellyfish in the future.
Babies 'R' Us recalls pacifier clips for choking hazard
Babies 'R' Us is recalling pacifier clips sold in an assortment of six because of a choking hazard.The clips have a circular plastic cover affixed to a metal spring clip and fabric strip with snaps. Babies 'R' Us sold the clips with different colors and character designs.
The recalled pacifier clip assortment has a model number 5F6237F and 2014 Geoffrey, LLC engraved on the back of the plastic cover. They sold at the store from February 2015 to April 2016.
The company has received two reports of the clips breaking. You should immediately return the pacifier clips back to a Babies 'R' Us or a Toys 'R' Us for a refund.

Born in 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa, Johnette served in the United States Air Force until she was honorably discharged to become a full time stay at home mom. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern New Mexican University where she graduated Cum Laude. Her passion in college was the theater and she sang and acted in many theater productions. Johnette devoted her time to her seven grandchildren. She enjoyed football, baseball, reading, and watching syfy/comedy movies. Her favorite color was pink, and she loved teddy bears.
Johnette is survived by her daughters and their husbands; Sarah and Alfred Farrell, Diana and Jacob Lewis, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Caleb, Korbin, Isabella, Allie, Katie, Manny, and Sam.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
