Two injured in early morning Vernon County head on crash

On 11/3/16 around 4:40am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County responded to a two vehicle accident on Route BB around 5 miles South of Nevada, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Ford 500 driven by 36 year old Joshua C. Bailey of Bronaugh, Missouri crossed the center line of the roadway and struck the 2003 GMC Yukon driven by 25 year old Tyler L. Millman of Bronaugh, Missouri head on.

Both men sustained moderate injuries in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to Nevada, Regional Medical Center for treatment.

TCB Towing and Southeast Auto both of Nevada, Missouri were called out to tow both vehicle which received extensive damages.

Visit to Louisburg Cider Mill sickens some

Seven cases of E coli infections have been confirmed by people attending the Louisburg Mill Ciderfest in late September and early October. 

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is saying they have identified the laboratory confirmed cases of Shiga toxin-producing E coli infections among people who were at the Louisburg Ciderfest September 24-25 and October 1-2.

Tests on cider making equipment last week came back negative for E coli; now investigators are looking to vendors who were on site for answers.

Anyone who experienced diarrhea within one to 10 days of attending the event to call 877-427-7317.

Obituary - Robert Lee Curry

A celebration of life for Robert Curry will be held 10:45 a.m. Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Adrian, Missouri. 

Arrangements under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Robert Lee Curry, age 51 of Adrian, Missouri died Monday, October 31, 2016, at his home in Adrian. He was born June 25, 1965, to Robert Lee and Shirley Wright Curry in Adrian, Missouri.

Robert is survived by his mother Shirley Curry of the home; five sisters, Lenora Curry of Springfield, Missouri, Roberta Harrison of Montrose, Missouri, Tammy Winder of Adrian, Missouri, Laurenia Curry of Manteca, California and Crystal Wheeler of Adrian, Missouri; a brother, Christopher Curry of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a ‘Buddy’; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.

Obituary - Charles Walter Brewer

Charles Walter Brewer, of Kansas City, Mo. passed away Monday, October 31, at the Liberty, Mo. Hospital. 

The former Nevada State Hospital Superintendent was 90. A private graveside service is to be scheduled later in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville and memorials to the Community Council on the Performing Arts in Nevada are suggested.

He is survived by his children, Doug Brewer, Nixa and Lora Brewer Ackerman, Kansas City, grandchildren Meredith Ann Ackerman, Claire Dorothy Ackerman and Benjamin Charles Brewer, and his sister, Mary Sue Luff, Independence.

He was preceded in death by parents H.B. and Maude Brewer, brother, Carl, and his wife of over sixty years, Norine (Norris) Brewer.

Significant Weather Advisory for NE Bates County

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Missouri has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for NE Bates County until 10:30pm.

The storm is capable of producing heavy rain and 45mph winds.
