Obituary - Donna Louise (Lechman) Fisher

Donna Louise (Lechman) Fisher, 84, Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO. Donna was born March 24, 1932 in Orlando, OK to Thomas L. and Dora (Finnell) Jeans. She was united in marriage to Jack Lechman in 1953 and he preceded her in death in 1975.

Donna was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from high school there. Following high school Donna began working for the phone company in Orlando as a switchboard operator and met her future husband, Jack, who was also employed by the phone company. After their marriage they moved to Sterling, CO where they resided for a number of years. Donna was a homemaker and also worked for the Nevada City Hospital in both physical and occupational therapy after coming to Nevada. Donna had also lived in Kearney for nearly 20 years and had worked at the Jesse James Homestead Museum for many years. Donna loved animals and watching butterflies and hummingbirds.

Survivors include her children, Rick Busch and his wife Kathy, Enid, OK, Dale Busch and his wife June, Edmond, OK, Van Lechman and his wife Liz, Nevada, Jack Lechman and his wife Pauletta, Nevada, Tom Lechman, Joplin, MO, Linda Byram and husband John, Walker, MO, Gary Lechman, Nevada, Tina Lechman, Lathrop, MO; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Jeans and wife Gladys, Thayer, KS, and Joe Jeans, Nevada, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Lechman, two brothers, Lawrence Jeans and J.T. Jeans and his wife, Ann Jeans, and an infant son, Dale Lechman.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home with Rev Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to the Moore-Few Care Center c/o Ferry Funeral Home in her memory.

Update: Butler man killed after being stuck by vehicle on I-49

On 12/3/16 around 4:09am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Bates County Sheriff's Department and Bates County EMS responded to a vehicle that struck a pedestrian in the Northbound Lanes of I-49 at Mile Marker 132.6 just North of Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the Northbound 2012 International Conventional tractor trailer driven by John W. Draper of Tulsa, Oklahoma struck 22 year old Dalton Z. McGuire of Grandview, Missouri ( Formerly of Butler) a he was walking on roadway.

Mr. McGuire was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Bates County Coroner Gary L. Schowengerdt.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 74 Fatality of 2016.

Rollover accident just north of Adrian

 Adrian fire, Bates County EMS and the highway patrol have just been called to the scene of a rollover accident just north of Adrian on I-49. Initial reports are that the subject is out of the vehicle and is alert and conscious.

Use caution if traveling through the area; we will provide updates as they become available.

Police respond to shots fired this morning in Butler

Around 3:30am this morning the Butler Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 Block of West Ohio Street in Butler.

Upon arrival to the scene several witnesses in this area claimed to hear 5-7 gunshots ringing out through the neighborhood.

Butler officers canvassed the area and located some spent shell casings and the firearm at a unknown residence on Ohio Street.



Samantha J. Embrey 
One male suspect who was identified as 29 year old Erick L. Adams and one female suspect who was identified as 29 year Samantha J. Embrey both of Butler, Missouri were both arrested and both were placed on a 24 hour hold.

An investigation is pending and more information will be published when it's made available to us.

Rich Hill man injured in Polk County crash

On 12/2/16 around 2:06pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Polk County responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 13 Highway around 7 miles North of Bolivar, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2013 International driven by 21 year old Joshua A, Turner of Glendale, Wisconsin was slowing due to mechanical issues when he was struck in the rear by a 2015 Peterbilt driven by 59 year old Allen W. Cumpton of Rich Hill, Missouri.

Mr. Cumpton sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by private vehicle to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damages and both were towed from the scene by Mike's Wrecker Service of Bolivar, Missouri.

Pedestrian struck and killed on I-49

Around 3:30am this morning the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle and killed around the 133 Mile Marker on I-49.

A investigation is pending at this time and the name of the person hasn't been released.
