Arrest made in stolen trees case
On December 19, 2016 Deputies from the Bates County Sheriff’s
Office arrested Jason A. Gillis (DOB 4/19/1985) in connection to the stolen walnut trees that was reported last week.
On December 20, 2016 Gillis was formally charged with Receiving Stolen Property, a Class C Felony. His bond was set at $10,000.00 with 10% cash, no surety allowed. More charges are expected to be filed against Gillis at a later date.

KBI searching for missing man in Garnett Kansas area
The Anderson County Sheriff Office along with the Kansas Bureau of Investigations is looking for help in locating Devyn Long.

Mr. Longs vehicle was found abandoned on 12-17-2016 around 11:35am in the area of Missouri Rd. just north of 1500 Rd. which is SW of Garnett, Kansas.

Harrisonville man injured in semi truck wreck in Johnson County
On 12/19/16 around 1:22am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Johnson County responded to a one vehicle semi truck rollover accident on Missouri 50 Highway just east of NW 821 Road in rural Johnson County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2011 Kenworth driven by 54 year old Randall C. Coburn of Harrisonville, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and began sliding which caused the trailer to rotate to the left, when the truck returned to the roadway it overturned.
Mr. Coburn sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.
The semi received extensive damages and was towed from the scene by Don's Tow of Sedalia, Missouri.

Harrisonville Police welcome two new officers
Subject shoots at police in Southern Missouri after police chase
On 12/19/2016 at 3:30PM, a Newton County Sheriffs Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Jefferson St. and Spring St. in Neosho, Missouri.
The vehicle, occupied by two subjects, fled from the deputy southbound on Jefferson St.
The vehicle continued to flee from the deputy and the passenger shot a pistol out of the vehicle and in the direction of the deputy.
The vehicle crashed at the intersection of Jefferson and North St.
No one was struck or injured from the shooting.

Both suspects are in custody at Newton County Jail Further information will be released at a later time.
