Nancy Louise Marchand

Nancy Louise Marchand, age 71, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Branson, Missouri. She was born on October 14, 1945 in Oswego, Kansas the daughter of John Eynon and Louise D. Bradfield Romine. She graduated from Oswego High School in 1963. She then attended Parson Junior College, graduating in 1965. 

Nancy married William Lewis Marchand on April 23, 1967 in Oswego. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and past Sunday school teacher. She was involved with her daughters'' activities in such things as being a Brownie Scout leader and making sure they got to dance and piano lessons. She was preceded in death by her father. 

Nancy is survived by her husband, Bill, mother, Louise Romine, daughters, Lisa Robbins and husband Mark and Wendy Boothe, two grandsons, Joshua and Jackson Robbins, sister, Jane Whitcomb, sister in law, Mary Marchand and three nephews: John, Jim and Joe Whitcomb.

Funeral service will be 11 am Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Calvary Baptist Church, La Cygne, Kansas. Burial in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 am to service time at the church. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association or Calvary Baptist Church c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Luke Vislay Retires

Colonel J. Bret Johnson superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces that effective January 1, 2017, Major Luke Vislay, commander of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, is retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.

Major Vislay was appointed to the Patrol on August 3, 1986. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, his first assignment was to Troop F, Zone 9, Hermann, MO. In 1987, Vislay transferred from Troop F to the Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC), General Headquarters. In 1991, he returned to Troop F, Zone 9. He was promoted to corporal in 1993, and designated assistant zone commander of Zone 2, Cole/Callaway counties. He was promoted to sergeant in 1996, and designated zone commander of Osage and Gasconade counties. After completing an internship in 1997, Vislay transferred to DDCC, General Headquarters, as a criminal investigator. He was promoted to lieutenant in August 2002, and designated assistant director of DDCC. In September 2006, Vislay was promoted to the rank of captain and designated director of DDCC. He was promoted to the rank of major and designated commander of the Criminal Investigation Bureau in March 2010.

Obituary - Edsel R. Wallace

Edsel R. Wallace, 92, of Peculiar, Mo died Wednesday, December 21, 2106 at the Kansas City Hospice House. He was born March 7, 1924 in Monte Valley, Mo to Emery Grandville and Dora Anis (Sheppard) Wallace. He was a US Army WWII veteran.

Edsel married Virginia Lee Welborn in May 1941; they had one daughter, Sandy. Prior to his military service he worked in Kansas City, Ks making aircraft planes. He attended Finley Engineering College in Kansas City, Mo. Besides farming, he owned and operated several businesses in the Cass County area. 

He managed the MFA in Harrisonville and Lee’s Summit, and owned several elevators. He traveled back and forth from Missouri to Texas where he owned several orchards, bringing back fresh fruit to sell.

Edsel was known as a generous man and very giving. He liked taking treats to the Amish children down in Rich Hill and always had a treat for any dog he saw. Edsel spent a lot of time with his grandson Nick, whom he was so proud of, teaching him to fish and tinker with vehicles. 

He loved spending time with his son-in-law, John Neiderman. But mostly, he loved and adored time and making coke-floats with his great-granddaughter, Mikayla.

Per his wishes, no services are scheduled.

Updated Obituary - Deborah Ann Stark

Deborah Ann Stark

Deborah Ann Stark, 65, Kansas City, MO, died Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 30 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.

Debbie was born October 3, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Orville Lee and Mary-Louise (Wagner) Clark. She married Billie Wayne Stark on September 9, 1978. She retired from the IRS as a tax examiner. 

She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Hermitage, Missouri. She liked to travel, go to concerts, and listen to music.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billie on December 19, 2004, and two step-sons, Mike Stark and Bobby Stark She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Wallace, Raytown, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Ashley Stark, Kenneth Cranon, Tony Fresia, Michelle Stark-Nebocat, Chandra Stark, and Mikey Stark, and 6 great-grandchildren, Colton, Shellby, Addyson, Libby, Hayden, and Kade.

St. Clair County Warrant Arrests

On Dec. 20, Daniel Glen Moore, 40, Lowry City, was arrested in Osceola on three no bond probation violation warrants from Wright County. Original charges include class A felony producing marijuana from July 2012, class D felony nonsupport from December 2011, class C felony possession of a controlled substance from August 2010.

On Dec. 21, Velda Motley, 62, Lowry City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with class C felony receiving stolen property. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

The warrant was issued on Dec. 21 and stems from an investigation on Oct. 26 when a St. Clair County deputy was contacted by a Henry County deputy in reference to a possible location of stolen vehicle in our county. The vehicle was reported stolen from a residence in Henry County. The deputy responded to a residence in Twin Oaks Harbor and located the stolen vehicle, a black 2003 Dodge Ram. The owner of the residence advised Motley and Jason Palmer dropped off the vehicle the previous day during the early morning hours

Items reported stolen from a truck in Appleton City

On Dec. 21, a St. Clair County deputy took a theft report from Darrell Foster. He reported his 1990 Chevrolet 1500 was parked at a residence on North Walnut Street, Appleton City, and someone got into his truck and took several items. 

Items missing include a small Stanley tool bag, 12 wrenches, a claw hammer, a small crescent wrench, a yellow utility knife, a 12 foot Stanley tape measure, a 3/8 drive socket set in black case and both license plates from the vehicle. 

The total value of the items was estimated at $96.
