Updated Obituary - James T. "Jim" Stillwell

James T. "Jim" Stillwell
James T. "Jim" Stillwell, 73, of Deepwater, Missouri died Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He was born May 29, 1943 in Mountain Grove, Mo., the son of Afton Sam Stillwell and Dorothy Gertrude (Price) Stillwell.

Jim taught in the public school systems at Nathan Hale Junior High School in Omaha, Nebraska, a teacher and principal at Raymondville, Mo.; and finally, for the Clinton School District at the Clinton Middle School, retiring June 2, 1998, after 29 years of public school service. Later in life Jim became an adjunct instructor at State Fair Community College, Clinton Campus. During the spring semester of 2016, due to health reasons, Jim retired for the last time. Beginning at the age of 12 and through high school Jim worked as a Printer's Devil at Worman Printing, Tri-County News, and finally at the Mountain Grove Journal. He was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Clinton. Jim graduated in 1961 from Mountain Grove High School. He received both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education from Drury University in Springfield, Mo. He was a member of the Missouri National Education Association, and a former member of the Masonic Order. Jim enjoyed reading, surfing the internet on his computer, following politics, and Studebaker automobiles, collecting paper weights, and working in stained glass art. Jim was an avid traveler, making trips to Russia, England, and various parts of the United States. One particular trip to Russia was extremely life changing for Jim. On April 7, 1997, 3:00 p.m. Moscow time, Jim became Dad to two Russian boys. Michael and Ryan were adopted and brought to Clinton, Mo., to become a part of Jim's family.



Surviving are two sons, Michael Afton Stillwell, state of Missouri, and Ryan Price Stillwell, Deepwater, Mo.; two grandsons, Cooper James Stillwell, Clinton, Mo., and Cayden James Andrew Stillwell, Windsor, Mo.; numerous cousins, friends, and colleagues; and Buddy, his four legged companion, of the home.



Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 181 East 7 Highway, Clinton, Mo. The family will receive friend Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Graveside services and interment will be at 3:30 p.m., Friday in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Mountain Grove, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to C.A.R.E., (Clinton Animal Rescue Endeavor), or the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

St. Clair County warrant arrests

On Dec. 23, Dwayne Dilbeck, 54, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class C felony possession of a controlled substance and class D felony tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. Bond is set at $20,000 cash or surety. The charges stem from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation the previous day when contact was made with Dilbeck at his residence on Fourth Street, Osceola. During the investigation Dilbeck picked an item up from the floor, sprinted to the kitchen sink, threw the item in the sink, turned on the water, and flipped an electric switch, turning on a garbage disposal. A clear plastic bag containing a clear crystal substance was found inside the sink drain/garbage disposal. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
On Dec. 24, Rory Thomas, 44, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with two class A misdemeanors, possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

The charges stem from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Aug. 26, when a deputy located a vehicle parked off the roadway on land belonging to the Missouri Department of Conservation on SW E Highway. Thomas was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was located in a corn field a short distance away. During the investigation a glass pipe with burnt marijuana residue was located inside his vehicle. A misdemeanor amount of marijuana and three pipes with marijuana residue were also located in the glove compartment of the vehicle. Thomas was booked and later released pending the formal charges. The warrant was issued Dec. 14.



Obituary - Norma June Edgar

Norma June Edgar, age 91, Austin, Texas formerly of Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the West Oaks Nursing Facility. She was born at Pleasanton on July 16, 1925 the daughter of Thomas and Ester Dollar Reed. She graduated from Pleasanton High School and went on to Secretarial School in Kansas City. She married Paul Edgar who preceded her in death on April 7, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a brother Ronald Reed and a sister Elizabeth "Libby" Heinz. 

She is survived by her son Roger Reed Edgar and wife Patricia, a brother Tom Reed and wife Annette, and three grandchildren: Clare, Corinna and Ethan Edgar. 

Funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Schneider Funeral Home Pleasanton Chapel. Burial to follow in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 am to service time at the Schneider Chapel. The family suggests contributions to West Oaks Activity Fund. MSHP Reports Six Fatalities Over Christmas Holiday; No Boating Fatalities

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports six people died in traffic crashes over the Christmas holiday counting period--from 6 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2016. 

The Patrol investigated 260 traffic crashes, which included 86 injuries and the six fatalities. Troopers also arrested 68 people for driving while impaired and made 40 drug arrests over the Christmas holiday. There were no boating crashes or drownings over the 2016 counting period.

During last year’s Christmas holiday counting period, the Patrol investigated 282 traffic crashes, which included 78 injuries and two fatalities. In addition, troopers arrested 47 people for driving while intoxicated. There was one boating crash with no injuries or fatalities, and 11 people drowned in 2015, after their vehicles were swept away by floodwaters. (Statewide during the 2015 Christmas holiday counting period, there were 1,070 traffic crashes, which included five fatalities and 363 injuries.)

Three of the fatalities occurred in the Troop D, Springfield area; and one fatality occurred in each of the Troop B, Macon, Troop E, Poplar Bluff, and Troop G, Willow Springs, areas.

Three fatalities occurred as a result of traffic crashes on Friday, December 23, 2016. Nicholas A. Thomas, 37, of Ozark, MO, and Dustin T. Emmett, 32, of Springfield, MO, died when the vehicle in which Thomas was a passenger crossed the center line and struck Emmett’s vehicle headon. The crash occurred in Greene County on Farm Road 159 north of Springfield, MO. Greene County Medical Examiner Michelle Waters pronounced Emmett dead at the scene of the crash. Dr. Pace at Mercy Hospital pronounced Thomas dead on December 24, 2016. Thomas was not wearing a seat belt; Emmett was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle in which Thomas was a passenger sustained moderate injuries in the crash; she was not wearing a seat belt.

Brooke J. Summers, 27, of Salisbury, MO, died when the vehicle she was driving ran off the road, struck a culvert, and overturned. Summers was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. The crash occurred in Chariton County on Missouri Highway 5 south of Marceline, MO. Chariton County Sheriff Rick Hershey pronounced Summers dead at the scene. Chariton County Sheriff’s Office, Chariton County EMS, and Marceline First Responders responded to the scene.

One fatality occurred as a result of a traffic crash on Saturday, December 24, 2016. Stephanie N. Price, 30, of West Plains, MO, died when the vehicle she was driving ran off the roadway and overturned several times. Price was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. The crash occurred in Howell County on U.S. Highway 63 south of Willow Springs, MO. Howell County Coroner Tim Cherry pronounced Price dead at the scene. 

One fatality occurred as a result of a traffic crash on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2016. Donald R. Hearlson, 80, of Marshfield, MO, died after the vehicle he was driving failed to negotiate a curve, went off the roadway, and stuck a parked vehicle. The crash occurred in Webster County on Missouri Route OO west of Red Top Road. Webster County Coroner Michael Taylor pronounced Hearlson dead at the scene. Hearlson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

One fatality occurred as a result of a traffic crash on December 26, 2016. Martin Lenwood, 65, of Joaquin, Texas, died when the vehicle he was driving ran through an intersection and struck a ditch. The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 160 east of Doniphan, MO. Lenwood was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Dr. McClain pronounced Lenwood dead at St. Francis Medical Center.

Obituary - Ronald J. Dykman

Ronnie’s wishes were to be cremated. There are no public services. Sandra would welcome everyone to stop by the home, visit, have a cup of coffee and share stories and memories in the coming weeks and months ahead.

Ronald J. Dykman, age 74 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, December 26, 2016 in Butler, Missouri. He was born June 30, 1942 to George William and Mildred Frankenfield Dykman in Madison, South Dakota.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Sandra Dykman of Butler, Missouri; two sons, J Dykman and wife Natalie of Carthage, Missouri and Neal Dykman of Tonganoxie, Kansas; two nephews; and his beloved dog Duff. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Wylma Jean Crane.

Burglary in rural Butler

On December 22, 2016 a Deputy responded to state route D in Butler, MO to take a report of a burglary that had previously occurred. 

After arriving at the residence the Deputy made contact with the homeowner who advised him that on December 06, 2016 he noticed that his motion lights were on in his shop. 

The homeowner ran off two subjects and assessed the property in his shop and estimated the value of the tools that were taken to be around $710.00. 

The items that were taken, a DeWalt cordless tool set, four Crescent wrenches, Mag flashlight, DeWalt miter saw, black tool belt.

Obituary - Norma Jeanne ‘Pruessner’ Duncan

Norma Jeanne ‘Pruessner’ Duncan, age 69, of Kearney, MO (Formerly of Clinton, Mo) died at Liberty Hospital, on Saturday, December 24, 2016.

Jeanne was born March 3, 1947 to Norman Wayne Pruessner and Evelyn ‘Summers’ Pruessner of Clinton, MO. She worked as a CMT in the Healthcare Industry for many years, but her true love was caring and nurturing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanne married Jim Duncan on March 8, 1973.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Duncan of the home; a daughter, Stacy Eacret (Larry); a son, Robert Williams; six grandchildren, Travis, Austin, Tiffany, Bridgette, Courtney and Jesse; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jace; her mother, Evelyn Pruessner; a brother, Gary Pruessner; several nieces, nephews, and family; and a host of friends.

Preceding her in death was her father; and a brother, Jerry Pruessner.

Under the direction of Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton, services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Park’s Chapel Baptist Church with Interment at Park’s Chapel Cemetery.
