Eldorado Springs woman seriously injured in St. Clair County crash

On 12/28/16 around 10:40am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 82 Highway around 6 miles North of Eldorado Springs, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2005 Dodge Neon driven by 75 year old Patricia A. Pennell of Eldorado Springs, Missouri pulled into the path and struck the 2012 Hyundai Tucson driven by 67 year old Delbert L. Phillips of Waverly, Missouri.

Patricia A. Pennell sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported to Citizen's Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri for treatment.

Both vehicle's were totaled and towed from the scene by J&B tow of Eldorado Springs, Mo and Brays Tow of Osceola, Mo.

Judy Kaye Smith, 73, Adrian, MO, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in Adrian. 

A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian.

Updated Obituary - Farrell E. "Gene" Patton

Farrell E. "Gene" Patton
Farrell E. "Gene" Patton, age 90, rural Hume, Missouri passed away on Monday December 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by his two favorite girls, wife Bonnie and daughter Donieta. He was born on December 29, 1925 to William and Kelly and Opal Truelove Patton in Phillipsburg, Missouri. Gene was one of five children, graduated from Phillipsburg High School on may 19, 1944. 

The following day found him bound for boot camp in Oklahoma as he was drafted for the war efforts while still in high school. Gene served in the Black Hawk Division under General George Patton and faced the Battle of the Bulge in the European Theatre, 1944-45. 

The next year, his service continued in Battery C 331st Field Artillery in the Black Hawk campaign in the Philippine''s Luzon battle. Upon his return to Missouri and civilian life, Gene quickly married the love of his life Bonnie Eilenstein. After teaching for one year in the Lebanon school district, Gene found his passion in the grocery business, becoming the youngest manager of a Krogers. This field eventually led to many years as a sales manager for the A. Reich Produce Company. At times, he worked as a real estate agent in the south Kansas City area. Gene''s life was filled with blessings. His two children, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren top the list. That list of blessings also included his association with and membership in the Masonic Rising Sun Lodge #8 of Fulton and Fort Scott, Kansas, the Hume Lions Club as a charter member, and the West Liberty United Methodist Church. In turn, Gene blessed many other lives with his rich bass singing, his guitar playing and his playful nature. 

Retirement brought out the farmer in Gene as he loved his home, his land and his cattle. Gene is survived by his wife, Bonnie, one son, Gary Patton and wife Twyla, one daughter, Donieta Davis and husband Jerold, a sister, Lorita Jones, three grandchildren: Angila Gitting, Gregory Patton and Todd Dalzele, and four great grandchildren: Riley Patton, Ashley Gitting, Rachel Patton and Ryan Gitting. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Friday, December 30, 2016 at the West Liberty United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Underwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 pm to service time at the church. The family suggest contributions to West Liberty United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.

Obituary - Emilie Ann Ravnikar

Emilie Ann Ravnikar
Emilie Ann Ravnikar, age 77, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at her home. She was born on August 26, 1939 at Centerville, Kansas the daughter of Warren and Cora Marie Johnson Giffin. She married David John Ravnikar on July 18, 1959. 

He preceded her in death on December 20, 1997. Ann worked for Kansas City Power and Light and finished her career at Midwest Office Technology as a financial controller. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in La Cygne. She was also preceded in death by a son John and a daughter Mary. 

She is survived by three sons: David Ravnikar and wife Dana, Andrew Ravnikar and wife Sally, and Steven Ravnikar and wife Jamie, a daughter, Teresa Weber and husband Kirk, two sisters, Mary Linhart and June Schemes, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial in the Richland Cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 5 pm Friday, December 30 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Visitation will follow until 7 pm. Contributions are suggested to Olathe Hospice. Peculiar man seriously injured in Cass County crash

On 12/27/16 around 11:05pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 7 Highway at Elliott Road in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1998 Ford driven by 18 year old Tyler L. Reed of Peculiar, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Mr. Reed sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Severs Tow.

Obituary - John Green

John Green, 54 of Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, December 24th, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO as the result of a sudden illness.

John was born on November 16th, 1962 in Denver, CO. He was an over the road truck driver for a very long time. He enjoyed being a part of the Eagle Riders, hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, watching football, and riding his Harley Davidson. John has resided in Nevada for the past six years.

He was survived by his sister, Michelle and John Nelson, of Nevada, MO; his adopted family, Jackie and Brad Widick, of Nebraska; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father, Evelyn and Francis Brown.

Funeral services will be held at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, MO at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 with Pastor Craig Campbell officiating. Following the services there will be a dinner at the Eagles in Nevada, MO.
