Walmart incident leads to arrest in Clinton

| Willie Edwin Ursery |
On January 4th at approximately 5:38 P.M. , while at Wal-Mart located at 1712 E. Ohio Street, Clinton Police were contacted by personnel there in reference to suspicious activity related to a possible theft from the store. Information was provided concerning a suspect who was still on the premises who had removed merchandise from the store without paying for it and was now in the customer service area of the store trying to return it for a refund. The officer contacted the subject and attempted to identify him. The subject stated that his identification was in his vehicle in the parking lot. When the officer accompanied the subject outside to get his identification, the subject attempted to flee on foot.
An additional responding officer contacted the subject on the west side of the Wal-Mart building and advised him to stop. The subject stopped but refused to obey any verbal commands and would not remove his hands from his pockets. The officer attempted to use a Taser on the subject but due to thick clothing, it was not effective. The officer then attempted to physically restrain and arrest the man with assistance from another officer who had originally been pursuing the subject on foot.
During the struggle, as an officer was again attempting to use a Taser to control the subject, the subject was able to grab the officer’s Taser and briefly shock the officer in his mid-section. The officer was able to break the subject’s grip on the Taser and he was brought under control and handcuffed.
The man was identified as 22 year old Willie Edwin Ursery of Memphis, Tennessee. He reportedly was with companion that was described as a black male with dreadlocks, however Ursery refused to identify the subject, or talk to police about the incident at all. Police were unable to locate the companion and it is believed that he left the area in an unknown type of vehicle.
Mr. Ursery was placed under arrest for 24 hour investigation of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer in the Second Degree, Felony Resisting Arrest and Receiving Stolen Property. He was transported to the Henry County Detention Center where he was incarcerated with a bond of $10,000.

A little more snow, then clearing later
It appears the forecasters 'got it right' this time. Last night's prediction was that we were to get basically a dusting- which is pretty much how it turned out.
While more snow is falling now, don't expect additional accumulation to amount to much, however it may make your travels a little slower than normal.
After this band passes through, skies are going to clear somewhat, and remain quite frigid for the next few days.
Good news? Expect 40's around Tuesday and into the 50's by mid week!
