Two seriously injured in early morning Cass County crash

On 2/12/17 around 2:33am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on 215th Street at Route Y in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1997 Ford F-250 driven by 33 year old Joshua J. Cary of Belton, Missouri failed to stop at a stop sign traveling through a T Intersection and striking a ditch.

Joshua J. Cary along with a passenger in his vehicle 29 year old  Biloa A Al-Hadehi of Grandview, Missouri both sustained serious injuries in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by J's Southland Tow.

Obituary - Mary Jane Abel

Mary Jane Abel
Mary Jane Abel, age 82, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Olathe Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.

Adam Hale was last seen in Butler, Missouri, on February 12, 2008. There are few details available with his case.

Ohio man arrested in Bates County

On 2/12/17 around 2:31am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 24 year old Jordan L. Richardson of Dayton, Ohio.

Mr. Richardson was arrested for 1.) Felony Probation Violation Warrant 2.) Possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and is currently listed as bondable.

Above normal temperatures continue

Although today will be cooler than yesterday, we will still see above normal temperatures. In addition, there is an elevated fire weather concern today; therefore, outdoor burning is discouraged. 

Monday afternoon/evening, there is a slight chance for light rain mainly along and south of the MO River. As for the rest of the week, expect dry weather with above normal temperatures.

Clean sweep for Adrian Blackhawks in the Cass Midway tournament

It was a clean sweep for the Adrian Blackhawks in the Cass Midway basketball tournament! In the first game of the night the lady Blackhawks capped off a dominating tournament by routing the KC Lutheran Knights 64-44. The outcome of this game went off as expected but the ladies played well in their victory. In the nightcap the boys varsity team look to avenge a 12-point defeat to The Marksmen in the regular season matchup. The boys came out on fire and led from start to finish. Sherwood made a few runs to make it interesting but those runs were met with equal and opposite resistance. Sherwood close the game to within three points late in the 4th quarter that Adrian stretched adapt to a 14-point lead and coasted to a 59-50 upset victory over and the top-seeded Sherwood Marksmen. The boys played well on both sides of the ball but their defense forced a lot of turnovers and bad shots. Adrian also had great turnout from their bench players. - Great job Blackhawks... Please refrain from burning



The Garden City Fire Department along with several other fire agencies responded to a large out of control grass fire this afternoon.

The location of this fire was in the 31000 Block of 315th Street in Rural Cass County.

Fire Crews would like to remind you to refrain from burning until conditions are better.
