Two seriously injured in Vernon County semi truck rollover accident

On 3/3/17 around 2:30am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle semi truck rollover accident in Southbound Lanes of I-49 around 3 miles South of Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2004 Freightliner driven by 35 year old Jasson L. Roark of Richards, Missouri failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the left side of the roadway struck the ground and overturned several times.

Jasson L. Roark along with a passenger in his vehicle 37 year old Angela A. McCale of Nevada, Missouri both sustained serious injuries in this accident and both were transported by air ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri for treatment.

The semi truck was totaled and towed from the scene by M & M Towing of Carthage, Missouri.

Butler man arrested in Bates County

On 3/3/17 around 1:43am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 56 year old Mikeral A. Carter of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Carter was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Possession of up to 35 grams of Marijuana 3.) Unlawful us of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour hold.

Activity Report for the Period
February 15-28, 2017:

4 Nursing Home/Hospice type deaths were
reported to the Coroner as required by law. None met criteria for investigation

On the afternoon of 2/15/2017 the Coroner responded to a
residence in rural southeastern Bates County. Mr. Raymond
Melton was pronounced by Coroner Greg D. Mullinax at 3:05 PM,
with investigation determining death due to natural causes.

Shortly after noon on 2/17/2017 the Coroner was called to a rural
residence just East of Butler, where Linda Bartley was
pronounced by Coroner Greg D. Mullinax at 12:45 PM.
Investigation determined death due to natural causes




Obituary - Don Grimes

Funeral services for Don "Wimpy" Grimes will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2016 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, Missouri. Contributions to Crescent Hill Cemetery or Mike Grimes Scholarship Fund.

Jesse Don Grimes, age 87 formerly of Ballard, Missouri died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, Missouri. He was born May 10, 1929 to Jesse and Maude Edith VanSant Grimes near Ballard.

Don is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Grimes of Archie, Missouri; two sons, Randy Grimes and wife Karen of Archie, Missouri and Dale Grimes and wife Kelly of Urich, Missouri; two daughters, Joyce Elaine Combs and husband Troy of Holden, Missouri and Janice Louise VanSandt and husband Ronnie of Adrian, Missouri; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Lynn Grimes; five brothers, Alva, Merlin, Carl, Roy and William; two sisters, Mabel Bea Dickerson and Rilla Hazel Dickerson; and a granddaughter, Mica Jean Grimes.












Update: Archie man injured in one vehicle accident in rural Drexel

On 3/02/17 around 8:20pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle accident on Holmes Road just North of Bobcat Lane in rural Drexel.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2013 Dodge Ram driven by 45 year old Jason L. Jamison of Archie, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a fence.

Mr. Jamison sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville for treatment.

The vehicle received minor damages and it was towed from the scene by Adrian Tire & Lube.
