House fire in Clinton

Around 7:52pm last night the Clinton Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 210 N. Carter. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and flames showing from a bedroom on rear of the house.

Fire crews then extended a hose into the house to extinguish the fire. Halfway through the structure, the crew encountered extreme heat forcing them back outside.

Once the interior crew was out of the house, a fire stream was aimed through the window of the fire room from the outside to attempt to cool and knock down the bulk of the fire. Once the fire was cooled, fire crews transitioned to an offensive attack and a crew entered the structure again. This time the crew was able to reach the seat of fire and finish extinguishing it.

The fire was declared under control within fifteen minutes of arriving on scene. The fire was caused by an unattended space heater plugged into an overloaded outlet. There were three adults and two children living in the house and Red Cross was dispatched to give them assistance. Damages to the house and contents are estimated at $23,000.

From Greg Mullinax regarding Sharon Cemetery

Sharon Cemetery
For far too long now, I've been contacted about theft of items from graves in Sharon Cemetery. These thefts are hard to hear about because it's difficult to imagine who would do something like this. It's sad; but nearly impossible to do anything about.

How would you catch the thieves? If caught,  the items taken may have great sentimental value, but often very little cash value; meaning a police report might not generate much outcome. So, usually there is not much that can be done.

Not so fast, says my friend Brian Haner. Brian and his family were tired of seeing this problem get worse over time and causing people additional sadness in a place they go to find solace.  So Brian developed a genius method to find out what was going on and who might be responsible.  I won't go into all the details at this time, but the credit is ALL HIS.  He's done a great service to his friends and neighbors in Drexel.

If you've had items taken, and can provide details and approximate values, please contact me and I'll point you in the right direction.  It's great to know this long-aggravating situation may have ended.
