Obituary - Noel Grace Belcher

Noel Grace Belcher
Noel Grace Belcher, three month old daughter of Dustin Belcher and Jordan Cowlishaw, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Ft. Scott, Kansas. 

She was born December 13, 2016, in Ft. Scott. She was a happy little girl who always lit up when around her family.

Survivors include her parents Dustin and Jordan, of the home; her five siblings, Gabrielle, Christopher, Jillian, Allison and Isabelle, all of the home; maternal grandparents, John Cowlishaw and Becky Caldwell Cowlishaw, of Ft. Scott and paternal grandparents, Dwight and Christie Belcher of Ft. Scott. Maternal great-grandmother, Doris Belcher, of Ft. Scott and paternal great-grandmothers, Maxine Hunziker, of Ft. Scott and Louise Belcher, of Nevada, Missouri. She was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents, Leonard and Jeanette Cowlishaw; paternal great-grandfathers, Don Hunziker and Ralph Belcher and a cousin, Matt Bogatay.

Pastor Terry Mosher will conduct funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 27th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. 


Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel. 

Memorials are suggested to the Noel Belcher Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.





Obituary - Gregory Breuel

Gregory Breuel, age 60, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Friday March 24, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services are pending at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.

Garden City man arrested for assault

Earlier this morning Officers of the Garden City Police Department responded to a reported assault in the 200 block of Main Street. 

A local bail bondsman was visiting with a client when the man allegedly shoved him and slammed a door on his leg and foot. 

A 46 year old Garden City man was arrested and transported to the Belton City Jail.





Heaven has gained a beautiful new angel

This morning our little Heart Warrior passed away in her mothers arms.

She is now our Heart Angel. We are surrounded by family as we grieve the loss of our amazing baby. 


Remi has impacted thousands of people and we thank each and every one of you for following Remington's journey, but her journey is not over.

One injured in Cass County Motorcycle Accident

On 3/24/17 around 8:25pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a motorcycle accident on Missouri 2 Highway just West of of Route C in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1997 Harley Davidson driven by 55 year old Henry R. Ramirez of Peculiar, Missouri was Westbound on Missouri 2 Highway traveling too fast for the road conditions, driver failed to negotiate a curve causing the bike to travel off the roadway and eject the driver.

Mr. Ramirez sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The bike was totaled and towed from the scene by J's Southland Tow.

5 people Injured in Vernon County head on crash

On 3/24/17 around 4:40pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with the Vernon County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle head on crash on Missouri 54 Highway around 1 mile East of Deerfield, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 21 year old Brandon L. King of Nevada, Missouri crossed the center line of the roadway and struck the 2003 Toyota Tundra driven by 89 year old Melvin S. Swopes of Eldorado Springs, Missouri head on during heavy rain storm.

Brandon L. King along with two passengers in his vehicle 34 year old Christopher K. Despain of Nevada, Missouri and 41 year old Crystal G. King of Nevada, Missouri all sustained serious injuries in this accident and all three were transported to a Joplin area Hospitals.

Melvin S. Swopes along with one passenger in his vehicle 65 Ricky D. Swopes of Nevada, Missouri both sustained moderate injuries in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by TCB Towing and Garwood's Wrecker both of Nevada, Missouri.

Two from Garden City injured in Cass County Crash

On 3/24/17 around 5:59pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle accident on K Highway just North of Missouri 2 Highway in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the Hyundai driven by 24 year old Johnathan L. Cates of Garden City, Missouri slid on the slick roadway causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway and strike a ditch.

Two passengers in the vehicle 20 year old Elizabeth R. Cates and Liam C. Cates (Under the age of 1 year old) both from Garden City, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

The vehicle received moderate damages and it was driven from the scene of the accident.
