Denny Earl Basore, Jr., 69, son of Denver Earl and Lucille (Brown) Basore, passed away peacefully at his home on March 26, 2017. He was raised in the Osceola community where he attended Osceola High School and graduated in 1965. After completing his education, he proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. In 1966, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda (Roberts) Basore. To this union, two sons were born: Travis and Tyson.
After leaving the service, Denny and Linda moved to Independence, Missouri, where he worked at Armco Steel. In 1978 they moved to their current country home in the rural Ohio community. There, Denny farmed and worked in sales at Fugate Motors in El Dorado Springs, where he was always known for his humor and excellent service. He had a deep love for animals and regularly took home hurt or deserted animals. Throughout his life, Denny devoted himself to his sons, coaching their baseball teams for many years. In later years, he took great joy watching his boys coach, regularly offering loud, helpful commentary from the sidelines. He continued supporting his sons later in life, when he helped start and shared in a cattle business with them where the boys offered lots of helpful advice. Apart from this, Denny and Linda loved going to Branson and watching the shows; one of his personal favorites was Presley’s Country Jubilee, where Linda begrudgingly attended as well. A highlight of his life was the surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration that Travis and Tyson planned for him and Linda. Denny will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Denver and Lucille.
Denny is survived by his wife, Linda; his two sons: Travis (Melissa), Tyson (Amy) and foreign exchange son, Pablo; one sister Karen (Stan) Austin; grandchildren; Owen and Gunner Basore, Cameron Lawson and Jonathan Rogers; nieces: Lyndi Austin, Mende (John) Lewis, Melissa (Billy) Lusby; one nephew, Clint Austin; and a host of relatives and dear friends.
