One injured in Cass County crash

On 4/7/17 around 6:35am the Missoui State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 58 Highway just East of Route BB in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2009 Ford Flex driven by 38 year old Jennifer L. Michael of Warrensburg, Missouri fell asleep at the wheel and traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a creek bed.

A passenger in the vehicle 75 year old Steven E. Draves of Warrensburg sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported to Lees Summit Medical Center for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by GT Tow of Raymore, Missouri.

Natural cover fire in Drexel area

The Drexel Fire Department along with Mutual Aid from Linn Valley Fire are on scene of a multi acre natural cover fire along the North bound lanes of 69 hwy (between 359th & 399th). 

Drexel members who responded are Chief Bob Strange, Firefighters Christopher Bodenhamer and Chris Gruenberg.

Three missing juveniles in Joplin

The Joplin Police Department requests the public’s assistance in locating three missing juveniles. 

Throughout the week 16 year old aAriana Atwood, 15 year old Britysh Alexander and 14 year old Hunter Seace were reported missing. 

Their photographs are attached. It is believed that they are traveling together. They may possibly be outside the immediate Joplin Metro area. 

Anyone with information in reference to their whereabouts is asked to contact the Joplin Police Department at 417-623-3131.








Joplin Middle School Teacher accused of sending nude photos to male students

On March 29th, 2017 the Joplin School District reported to the Police Department that a middle school teacher had allegedly sent nude photos of herself to male students.

Today, as a result of that investigation Amanda R. Schweitzer (37) of Joplin, Missouri was arrested on a Jasper County Warrant for Statutory Rape in the First Degree. 

She is currently in the Joplin City Jail. Bond has been set at $40,000 cash or surety and $10,000 cash only.










City of Rich Hill now under water conservation notice


The City of Rich Hill is now under water conservation notice.  Thank you for your efforts in helping us conserve water at this time.  

We are currently working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Notification will follow once the conservation notice has been lifted.

Obituary - Diana Lou Stout

Diana Lou Stout, 52, of Tanglewood, died Friday, April 7, 2017. She had been in failing health for several years, however her death was unexpected.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 am on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. 

The family suggests memorials to the ASPCA in care of the funeral home P.O. Box 304, La Cygne, Kansas 66040.

Man arrested on warrants in St. Clair County

Jesse Sharp
On April 4, a St. Clair County Deputy arrested Jesse Sharp, 31, Lincoln,Missouri.

Mr. Sharp was arrested on three Bates County warrants from Adrian Police Department for failing to appear in court. 

Mr. Sharp is charged with misdemeanor careless and imprudent driving, resisting arrest, and no insurance. Total bond is set at $150 cash only.
