Butler man escapes serious injury in hit and run accident

On 4/10/17 around 4:45pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 18 Highway just east of County Road 11001.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2002 Ford F-250 driven by Francis R. Morgan of Butler, Missouri was struck by a unknown vehicle who continued westbound and didn't stop for the accident.

Mr. Morgan sustained minor injuries in this accident and he refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident.

Anyone with information on the other vehicle that fled from the scene is asked to contact the Bates County Sheriffs Office at 660-679-3232.

A celebration of life potluck BBQ will be held to celebrate the life of Lisa Tucker on Sunday April 23rd at the Amsterdam Park starting at 2pm.

Lisa Tucker was killed Friday in a motor vehicle accident West of Montrose in Henry County.

Ellen Jane Eidson, age 99 of Ballard, Missouri died Friday, April 7, 2017 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri. She was born October 3, 1917 to James Franklin and Neva Ethal Clark McClenny in Ballard, Missouri.

Ellen is survived by two sons, Jimmie Eidson and wife Reta of Ballard, Missouri and Terry Eidson and wife Laura of Columbia, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jason Eidson and wife Leslie of Kansas City, Missouri, Lori Smith and husband Daniel of St. Peters, Missouri and Janelle Schmidt and husband, Christopher of Edwards, Colorado; six great-grandchildren, Kristen, Stephen and Evan Smith, Oliver and Elliott Schmidt and Samual Eidson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvy (Chic) Fisher Eidson in 2002; brother, James McClenny Jr.; four sisters, Dorothy Goodrich, Mildred Aldridge, Mary Hocker and Rosalie McClenny; and three grandsons, Brian, Eric and Brent Eidson.





Search Warrant Served In Eldorado Springs Missouri

On April 4, 2017, officers of the El Dorado Springs Police Department assisted by Deputies of the Cedar County Sheriff's Office and a St. Clair County Sheriff's K-9 Unit served a search warrant at 305 South Grand Street, after receiving information of illegal drug activity. 

Officers located and seized evidences of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The investigation resulted in the arrest of John E. Shaw, 49, of El Dorado Springs, on the probable cause of Keeping and Maintaining a Public Nuisance, Possession of Amphetamine Drug Paraphernalia,Tampering with physical evidence, and Two Counts Stealing. Shaw was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Stealing. He was released on summonses pending a court appearance.
