Obituary - August Harold Weber

August Harold Weber, 89, Belton, MO, died Monday, April 10, 2017 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton, with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO. 

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 17 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

August was born September 7, 1927 in St. Louis, MO, the son of August Harold and Eleanor (Seidl) Weber. He grew up in St. Louis, where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Marines at age 17, serving during WWII, and re-enlisted in the U. S. Navy, serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served in the military for 20 years before retiring July 1, 1966.

August married Mary Lou Cronin on May 17, 1952 in Bridgeton, MO. They lived in Grandview, MO before moving to Belton, MO, where they have lived for 37 years. After August retired from the Military, he went to work for the Civil Service at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base until it closed, retiring in October, 1978. After the base closed, he worked for the Grandview School District until 1992. August was a member of the DAV and St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton.

August was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of the home; four sons, James “Jim” Weber, Belton, MO, Mark Weber, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Larry Weber, Belton, and Jeffrey Weber (Jauna), Harrisonville, MO; two daughters, Karen Wooldridge (John), Raymore, MO and Diane Machal (Chris Stites, fiancĂ©), Freeman, MO; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Butler Attorney Chris Benjamin Updates Bates County Democratic Women’s Club on Legislation Affecting the Courts

BUTLER, MO – Butler Attorney Chris Benjamin gave a presentation to the monthly meeting of the Bates County Democratic Women’s Club on March 30th. Chris spoke about legislation affecting consumer rights and workers’ rights, which is being considered in the Missouri Legislature this session.
Chris Benjamin practices civil litigation and criminal defense work on the Butler square at the Caskey Professional Building.  

Chris is a former Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the Missouri House and he regularly gives updates on legislation pending at the State Capitol.

Obituary - Sharon Ann Howard

Sharon Howard, 65 of Pleasanton, Kansas passed away April 8, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. Cremation, with private family services to be held at a later date.

Sharon Ann Howard was born November 23, 1951 in Little Falls, New York to Raymond and Mary Virginia Murphy Rifenburgh. She worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant for many years before retirement.  

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Ron Howard of Pleasanton, KS., a special Godmother, Debbie of Chandler, AZ., an Aunt Sooky of Coral Gables, FL., and by many cousins and dear friends from all over the US.

Man arrested in St. Clair County for domestic assault

Donovan Gregg
On April 8, Donovan Gregg, 29, Collins, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class C felony domestic assault-second degree. 

The warrant was issued on June 15, 2016 and bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety. 

The charge stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation in May 2016 when Gregg allegedly punched a female in the head with his fist numerous times.





Clinton man arrested in St. Clair County

On April 9, Micheal Robinson, 45, Clinton, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class D felony possession of a controlled substance and class D misdemeanor possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana. Bond is set at $12,500 cash or surety.

The charges stem from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation the previous day when a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle Robinson was driving. 

During the investigation a white film container was located. It containing quarters, marijuana, and a white crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
