Update from the city of Rich Hill
The City will be placed under a boil advisory until further notice. City officials ask to conserve as much water as possible for the time being while the system and tower are filled.
There will still be a drinking water distribution area at City Hall for those needing water due to the boil advisory.
Last but not least,
Since water has been restored school will resume as normal today!
Thank you all for being patient and a huge THANK YOU from the Fire Department to all the crew members which worked through the night to get water restored back to the citizens!!!

Two in Custody after Pursuit in Cass County
A officer was able to spike stip the vehicle North of Peculiar at Peculiar Way and the vehicle which was struck by the spikes on the front left tire has slowed to a stop on Northbound I-49 at mile marker 176.Two subjects are said to be in police custody at this time.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office was assisting in this pursuit that started at Missouri 7 Highway and I-49 in Harrisonville.

RICH HILL WATER LINE BREAK INFORMATION...
I have just been in touch with Ron Nissen, Bates County Emergency Management Director concerning the water main break in Rich Hill.
He has reported the issue to State Emergency Management officials and will continue to monitor any needs identified by Rich Hill government officials for it's citizens, concerning access to clean drinking water. He indicated that Bates County EMA stands ready to respond and assist should the situation worsen.

The City is currently working on repairing this issue. City crews will be working throughout the night to fix the leak.
If the water has not been restored by tomorrow morning then we will be working on distributing out bottled water to area residence which can be picked up at City Hall.

Officers had developed information regarding a known male subject at that location that had reportedly been involved in illegal drug activity.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with multiple subjects on the property. During the initial contact the known male subject fled on foot from officers but was taken into custody a short time later.
The male subject was found to have a loaded handgun in his possession, which upon further investigation was identified as being stolen in a recent theft from a rural Vernon County address. The male subject was also prohibited from legally possessing a firearm.
A second male subject present at the scene was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and suspected methamphetamine.
During the search of the property officers located and seized suspected methamphetamine and suspected drug paraphernalia. The evidence seized will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.
The known male subject, identified as Travis A. Houts, age of 29 of Nevada was taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding.
On January 4, 2018 the following charges were filed against Houts through the Vernon County Associate Court:
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm - Class D Felony
Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony
Receiving Stolen Property – Class D Felony
Resisting Arrest for a Felony – Class E Felony
Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Class E Felony
Houts is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash only bond.
The second male subject, identified as Kyle C. Mason, age 18 of Nevada was taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding.
On January 4, 2018 the following charges were filed against Mason through the Vernon County Associate Court:
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Class D Felony
Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Class E Felony
Mason is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash only bond.

Charles Robert Vunovich left this life to join his parents and grandmother in heaven.
“Charlie” was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Steve and Wanda Woods Vunovich on January 27, 1959. He attended school in Kansas City until mid tenth grade year when he dropped out of school to help support his parents and four sisters. In the mid 70's, the family moved to East Lynne, Missouri.
Charlie married Yodie Heaper on September 17, 1981. They had four children and lived most of their life together in Amoret, Missouri. Charlie worked most of his life as a welder machinist and material handler. Charlie, Yodie and their four kids also had a firewood business for several years.
Charlies was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Wanda Vunovich and his maternal grandmother, Edith Woods.

Vunovich of Butler, Missouri.
Nine grandchildren: “Lane”, Alyssa, Kacey, Emma, Carla, Shyanne, Abby, Colby and Landon.
He is also survived by his four sisters, Pam Howard, Stephanie Chamberlain, Rhonda Pilcher and Melissa DeTienne, along with nieces, nephews, and extended family member
Adrian man injured in Johnson County rollover accident
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2002 Chevrolet driven by 33 year old Dusty W. Ferrell of Adrian, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a road sign and overturned.
Mr. Ferrell sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Ron's Tow.
