Search warrants executed across the county in drug distribution case
Six houses were raided by a team of Investigators and Deputies Thursday as part of a drug distribution case that has been ongoing since the first of the year. 

According to Sheriff’s Office Officials, search warrants were served by a team on Anderson Street in Sheldon, 1200 Road Southwest of Nevada, 1500 road near Horton, Floral Street in Nevada, Main Street in Nevada, and Lynn Street in Nevada.

Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said two people with outstanding warrants were located during the event Tuesday and that suspected drug paraphernalia and illegal drugs were located in all six homes. “We will be sending evidence from each location to the Missouri State Crime lab for processing” said Mosher. The Sheriff said stolen property was located at one location and is in the process of being returned to the owner. 

According to officials, a total of 8 search warrants took place during the entire investigation that started in January with a search warrant being served in Stotesbury, and the arrest of a Sheldon man a few weeks later. 

Mosher said Bruce W Younce, 47 of Sheldon was arrested on January 30 at a home North of Nevada by detectives after a lengthy period of surveillance. Suspected methamphetamines and scales were located after a search warrant was served on Younce’s vehicle. 

Younce has been charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance and is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond. Mosher said charges on multiple suspects involving the case are pending the results of lab analysis.






Nevada man injured after police pursuit ends in Barton County

On 2/9/18 around 4:00am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Barton County responded to a one vehicle accident on Division Lane around 1 mile south of Sheldon, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1998 GMC Jimmy driven by 30 year old Willam C. Noel of Nevada, Missouri was being pursued by the Vernon County Sheriff's Office when he traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a embankment and overturned.

Mr. Noel sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by the VCSO to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Southeast Auto.

Freeman Man Charged with Enticement of Child


Cass Co – On Thursday detectives with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the residence of Robert R. Nolen, 62, in the 200 block of West 2nd in Freeman Missouri.

Detectives were investigating a report of felon in possession of a firearm and enticement of a child less than 15 years of age. Mr. Nolen a registered sex offender was located and taken into custody.

Cass County Prosecutors Office charged Mr. Nolen with felony enticement of a child and felony unlawful possession of a firearm. He is currently in the Cass County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.

Arrest in Archie leads to Bates County charges

A trespassing complaint in Archie led to the arrest of Daniel Chastain of Adrian, Mo after the subject fled the area when officers responded to the call. 

With assistance of the Bates County Sheriff's office K9 unit, the subject was taken into custody without incident and is being held on felony warrants out of Bates County.

Reward now being offered in Barton County

UPDATE TO INVESTIGATION:

A reward has been offered by the owners of the property. A $10,000.00 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the burglary and arson at Hilltop Salvage on January 11th 2018.

Cass County Residents Invited to Attend Flood Workshop

Representatives from several state and federal agencies that deal with floods and the aftermath will share information during a workshop to be held Thursday, February 15, starting at 7 p.m. in the Harrisonville Community Center.

The program is being sponsored by the City of Harrisonville and is open to all residents of Cass County, free of charge.

The evening’s program will include presentations on flood plain management by the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), on the National Flood Insurance Program, and on the role of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in reducing and managing the risk of flooding from the nation’s rivers and streams.

“Cass County experienced several heavy rain events last summer that caused flooding in various areas of the county, including Harrisonville,” Director of Public Works Eric Patterson said. “We hope the insights shared by our presenters will answer some of the fundamental questions that always come up after a natural disaster such as a flood.”




Metz man arrested in Vernon County

On 2/8/18 around 10:14pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County arrested 41 year old Brian C. Barnett of Metz, Missouri.

Mr. Barnett was arrested for 1.) Felony Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Driving While Revoked 3.) No seatbelt.

He was booked into the Vernon County Jail in Nevada, Missouri and he is currently listed as bondable.
